Continue ReadingAirline hosted their final one day team camp with guests such as David Thibodeaux and Natchitoches Central playing against local teams like BTW and Captain Shreve. Even local private school Loyola College Prep jumped into the mix. There was great guard play during the morning sessions of the camp. In this Prep Hoops exclusive, we will look at standout players during the early sessions of from Airline.
Colby O’glee Colby O’glee 5'11" | PG Airline | 2023 State LA (Airline | 2023 | 5’11″)
O’glee is known for his shooting. During the morning sessions at Airline, it was his penetration and defense that was on display. Colby displayed the improvements he has made in his man-to-man defense especially in the middle third of the court. He ripped Loyola guards a couple of times leading to transition buckets by him or his teammates. His use of the shot fake opened up driving lanes for him to shoot his floater or to get all the way to the cup. Even in an early loss, O’glee definitely had a good start to his day at Airline.
Caleb Branch (Loyola College Prep | 2023 | 5’11″)
Branch was masterful in the way he ran the point against Airline and Parkway. He was very good at getting by his initial defender and finding his forwards in the paint for layups. When he got a chance to drive it to the cup himself, he finished the deal himself and even took a couple of hits when he elevated towards the rim. Branch showed that he is a very good pass-first point. The Loyola Flyers are in good hands when he has the ball.
Cage Van Norman (Loyola | 2025 | 6’1″)
Van Norman did a little bit of everything on the floor for Flyers as they went 1-1 during the early morning sessions at Airline. He was very good at attacking the goal and creating fouls against the opposition. Van Norman has slimmed down since his middle school days which has helped him push the ball faster up the floor and move quicker in the half court. This helped him to get clearer looks from three and get to rebounds as well. Van Norman is a sophomore on the rise and should be a big asset to the Flyer offense.
Shea Plowden Shea Plowden 6'1" | CG David Thibodaux | 2023 State LA (David Thibodeaux | 2023 | 6’1″)
Plowden has played well on the Prep Hoops Circuit and he brought that confidence to the Airline gym during the morning sessions. Against host Airline, Plowden went on a 10-0 run during the game displaying his full capabilities on the floor. He had a steal for a layup, a mid-range pull-up, and two threes to break the game open. Plowden has a very good handle as well and he can drive and pass with either hand. His skill set makes him very dangerous on the floor.
Bryson Broom Bryson Broom 6'0" | CG Airline | 2024 State LA (Airline | 2024 | 6’0″)
Broom is one of the better rebounding guards we have in Louisiana and showed it in both games the Vikings played. He has a genuine nose for the ball and tracks the shots of his teammates very well. Broom fills every need for the Vikings on the defensive end. He was good at defending the hot shooter on the opposite team and leaking out and finishing in transition. Broom had success when he was on the floor and made the best of his opportunities.
The evening sessions should have guard play just as dynamic as BTW (Shreveport), Delhi, Huntington, Wossman, and Natchitoches Central will all be in the building after lunch leading into dinner time.
