Check out my scouting reports and analysis on some of the best 2023 wings who really shined during their time on the court during the last day at the PrepHoops Easter Classic. I cant wait to see the growth they will begin to show over the next few months!

Jackson Seale 2023 6’9 McKinney Boyd High School, TX (Top Achievers Elite 2023)

Jackson is a high level player with his ability to stretch the floor and score from all three levels all while protect the rim. He is an efficient scorer with his back to the basket, and has an array of post moves and hook shots with either hand. He is aggressive down low, and uses his size to his advantage every chance he could, going at his defender’s chest and drawing fouls. His aggressiveness is also evident on the glass where his size and strength were often way too much for his opponents to deal with. He showed an ability to be the pick and roll, or out of the pick and pop with his ability to stretch the floor and knock down shots over the top of his opponents. He routinely made good decisions after setting hard screens to free up his lead guard, or slipping for an easy look at the rim. Seale is a high level prospect who should have an elite senior year next year with the ease in which he scores in the paint and from every inch of the court.

Braylan Mayfield 2023 6’4 Lincoln Prep School, LA (WBBP Rush 2023)

Braylan is an aggressive player on both ends of the court who thrives with his energy on the defensive end of the court. He thrives in the open court where he can calmly go coast to coast after ripping the ball from his opponent. His intense on ball defense allows him to keep his defender in front of him with ease, and he uses his active hands to poke the ball free. He had a nasty dunk after snatching the ball from his opponent and slamming it on his head, and let him know about it as the two of them jogged back up the court. I loved his energy and his desire to take on the best player on the court, and was willing to attack him on both ends of the floor. He wanted all the smoke during every day of the tournament, it was a true pleasure to watch him compete. He is a talkative player, which is sometimes a bad thing, except Mayfield can back up every bit of his talk!

Devin Gardner 2023 6’3 Eastern Hills High School, TX (DFW Magic 2023)

Devin is a high level athlete who loves getting downhill and attacking the rim. His tenacity and relentlessness on that end of the floor really stood out as he lived in the paint and made some tough acrobatic finishes as he moved his body to avoid contact and outstretched limbs. I was very impressed with his ability to hang in the air and change his shot angle if necessary. He is not just a slasher however, he displayed an ability to calmly score of the dribble from beyond the arc and from the mid-range depending on what looks the defense gave him. He has great size and long arms which allow him to play the guard position or on the wing depending on the match-up. On the defensive end of the ball, he is an aware help defender who slides over when a teammate is in need to reject shots at the rim or trap the ball on the perimeter.

Noah Babineaux 2023 6’5 Obra D. Tompkins High School, TX (CyFair Elite HTX 2023)

Noah is a skilled wing who displayed a tight handle and a real ability to break down his opponent on the perimeter and get into the paint. He is great at using his quickness and agility which pair extremely well with his size and ability to take bigger opponents off the bounce. He can calmly operates out of the high post and makes the right passes to his teammates within the half court. I was also very impressed with his hands and his ability to catch tough passes that were not put on his body. I would like to see him work on getting more aggressive when turning the corner, there were a few instances where he got the step on his defender and passed out of a shot instead of taking it up strong to the rim.
