I was only able to watch games going on at Turnstone and Sport One/Parkview Fieldhouse but still saw a ton of top notch performances. With that said, let us take a look at the guards that stood out for me.
Isaac Andrews Isaac Andrews 6'1" | SG Wapahani | 2024 State IN (GPP 2024 Red) – Andrews is one of the toughest players in the state of Indiana, period. Looks like he has grown a little bit and added more muscle since the last time I saw him last year. Played some really good defense and often times just looked glued to his defender, not trying to let him get an inch of space. Shot the ball pretty well and showed off that quick release. As far as 2024’s go, Andrews can make a case for being one of the more underrated guards.
Donovan Hamilton Donovan Hamilton 6'3" | SG Hamilton Southeastern | 2024 State IN (GPP 2024 Red) – Hamilton is one of the fastest rising shooting guards in the 2024 class. Has a ton of athletic ability and plays with some smoothness. Made some great cuts off the ball and showed a solid ability to take his defender one-on-one. Seemed like every time he wanted to, he got to the basket and finished real strong. He is one guy to keep an eye on this summer.
David Cundiff David Cundiff 6'0" | PG Munster | 2024 State IN (Team GRIII 16u Elite) – Cundiff is one of the guards that impressed me the most this past weekend. Shorter lead guard that is smart and a little scrappy. Plays that floor general role very well and made some real sharp passes when I watched him. Also has a pretty good looking jumper. Could see him being one of the breakout players in the 2024 class soon.
Malik Corley Malik Corley 5'10" | PG LaPorte | 2024 State IN (Team GRIII 16u Elite) – Corley is a shorter lead guard that is strong and explosive. Played a little off the ball more times than I expected but did a real good job shooting the ball from behind the arc. He looks to be a hard guy to defend just because of elite quickness and size. Expect him to crack our rankings once they are updated this year.
Tyler Parrish Tyler Parrish 6'3" | SG Chesterton | 2024 State IN (Team GRII 16u Elite) – Parrish an athletic guard that plays really well when going coast-to-coast. Played well off the ball here and made some hard cuts to the basket. Pretty crafty at times and looks to be getting better off the bounce.
Jaron Tibbs Jaron Tibbs 6'4" | SF Cathedral | 2023 State IN (Indiana Elite 17u) – Tibbs continues to be one of the more consistent guards and yet I feel he is extremely overlooked at times. Played very well in the game I watched of his and thought his off the ball work really gave Indiana Elite a much needed boost on the offensive end. Thought his rebounding was excellent as well and he really used his high amount of athleticism to his advantage to snag boards. Football will likely be his move in the future but this guy can hoop too.
Jalen Haralson Jalen Haralson 6'7" | PG La Lumiere | 2025 #8 Nation IN (Indy Heat 16u) – Haralson continues to be one of the most impressive players in any age group. Did well in transition and was a lot more crafty around the basket that what I have seen from him. His handles for his long frame is what really impresses me most of the time because this guy can be so creative in the lane. Made some highlight dunks as well. He is just so advanced for his age.
