Umaree Talley, MBA Blue 25″
Umaree’s performance and overall effort in a game where his team was down big for the majority of the contest was one of the performances that stood out to me the most over the weekend. Most kids will pack it in, especially during a blowout in the summer. That wasn’t the case for Umaree, as he played with intensity on the defensive end until the final buzzer. Umaree’s active hands created multiple turnovers for his team. He also anticipated the other teams’ passes well and was able to step in for a couple of steals.
Rashad Simspon, Indiana Attack 24″
Rashad was one of the more physical players I saw over the weekend. He wasn’t afraid to get up in a ball-handler’s space and dictate where he went with his dribble. Rashad also showed a quick fisrt-step when guarding the ball and did a good job of cutting off the opposing guard’s move to penetrate the lane.
John Malchow, Indiana Attack 24″
John did a good job of clearing the defensive glass and limiting second-chance opportunities for Indiana Attack’s opponents. John also showed above-average in-game intelligence, especially in help-side. John did a good job of coming across the lane to contest what would be an easy basket for his opponent.
Joe Miller, United Pursuit 25″
Joe was another defensive standout that cleared the glass with a consistent effort. On several occasions, Joe boxed out a larger athlete using a quick first step to get in the lane and sealed off his opponent without fouling.
Keegan Vankauwenberg, Wisconsin Crusaders 25″
In what was a highly anticipated matchup between Wisconsin Crusaders and CMB, Keegan stood out as someone who rose to the moment, especially in crunch time. Although Wisconsin Crusaders didn’t get the win, Keegan made CMB’s guards work for every bucket they got.
