The Hustle Region Circuit consists of AAU Programs from California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Colorado, and New Mexico. The circuit features 10 stops including the Hustle Region Final in Irvine July 15th – 17th. Stop number 5 sends us to Irvine California, for the Hustle In The Sun, where we will have everyone playing under one roof inside the Momentous Sports Arena. Here’s a look at the 17U All-Tournament Team.
Brycen Matthews 5’9 PG BTI 2023 – Matthews was electrifying this weekend. Easily one of the top PGs, he showed some major separation skills this week, putting opponents on skates more than a couple of times. Just in case you thought it was safe to back off, the PG made opponents play with his knock-down jump shooting ability.
Levi Sweeney Levi Sweeney 6'0" | CG Centennial | 2023 State NV 6’0 PG NWA 2023 – Sweeney had a really good week, putting himself squarely in the prep hoops Nevada rankings. The PG has long arms and does a little bit of everything. Thought he defended well, and I was impressed with his IQ and shot-making ability, making him an easy choice for All-Tournament Team honors.
Zane Goldman Zane Goldman 6'0" | PG San Marcos | 2023 CA-S 6’1 SG Coastal Elite 2023 – Every time I’ve watched Coastal Elite, someone different has stood out. This weekend Goldman was the star. The sharpshooter provided scoring production for the squad, getting to the bucket and knocking down shots consistently.
Mateen Rafiq Mateen Rafiq 6'0" | PG Weston Ranch | 2024 State CA-N 6’0 PG Rose City 2024 – Rafiq was the only 2024 to make the 17U All-Tournament team, and he deserved it. The PG was impossible to stay in front of, blowing by almost every opponent who attempted to stop him. He scores the ball well but he’s a pure PG with his play and ability to draw and create for teammates.
Kaeden Hamilton 6’8 C BTI 2023 – There wasn’t anyone physically able to match up with Hamilton and he took full advantage of it. The big man banged and bruised opponents around the rim, showing good hands and a nice touch around the basket.
