DMV Stags shine on the PH Circuit
On Day 1, Team Charlotte took all the headlines but on Day 2, it was the DMV Stags program that stood out with a 2-0 outing on Sunday. Xavion Roberson Xavion Roberson 6'0" | PG Meade Highschool ( MD ) | 2023 MD and Ronny Hogarth were pivotal in their first victory of the day with an 80-79 victory in overtime over No Guts No Glory to kick the day off. Roberson went off for 24 points (3 made 3-pointers) and did well to run the show for the Stags to pull out the victory. He was a vocal leader that made waves with his ability to keep his team engaged and focused on the task at hand. Hogarth was their prospect on the interior that made things hard on defenders. His ability to battle down low and take key charges when things got close.
Christopher Henderson (2024) and Shawn Jones Jr. were two other prospects that showed off their shooting stroke with the DMV Stags as well. Henderson didn’t show much fall-off despite playing up on the 17U stage. Jones is a lengthy forward prospect that showed he can operate inside and out with his length and athleticism at 6-foot-6.
Team Charlotte 2023s/2024s Step Up
On Day 2, Team Charlotte saw some more of its talent step up on the 17U & 16U stages. Braylhan Thomas Braylhan Thomas 6'5" | SF Gray Collegiate | 2024 State SC and Amare Bethel Amare Bethel 6'3" | PG Charlotte Country Day School | 2024 State NC headlined things for the 17s as they went unbeaten once again on the second day of the Carolina Cup. Thomas showed off his ability to move without the ball and knock down shots on all three levels while Bethel did work at the lead guard position to set up Thomas and others for buckets. He set quite the tone with his defensive prowess much like he did on the opening day. Bethel is a budding guard prospect with a ton of potential on both ends of the floor. He’s really coming into his own with his athleticism and handles as a combo guard prospect with a ton of upside.
Erich Harding took over on Day 2 for Team Charlotte 2024 as he had a number of big finishes on Day 2 in a big win over Tribe ATL 2024 to start the morning off. He was part of a big run in their frontcourt that saw him fill it up in a big way with his ability to operate around the rim. He’s a name that’s growing on the PH Circuit.
Kendrick Johnson goes for 40
Underrated Athletes 2025 had a tough opening day to the Carolina Cup, dropping two of their three games by just 1-point including an overtime loss to Team Charlotte , but Day 2 was different as Kendricm Johnson stepped up in a big way and got them in the win-column.
Johnson went for 40 points, showing off his ability to score the basketball in a variety of ways, to get a big victory over the North Florida Hurricanes. He had his full arsenal of mid-range pull-ups and slashing drives on display as his squad put up 100+ points in a route.
Keep an eye on Calvin Charles!
Calvin Charles is doing work through the first month of the PrepHoops Circuit. He was a top performer on Day 1 and picked up where left off on Day 2, showing off his growth for Florida Elite SW. He’s a prospect in Florida’s 2024 class that will need a close eye kept on him as he continues to shine on the PrepHoops Circuit. His ability to handle the ball on the perimeter and operate on the interior on both ends is something to marvel at no matter the event or who is in front of him.
