Continue ReadingThe next live period is a few weeks away. During this time the latter parts of April and most of May, there’s been plenty basketball being played in NorCal. PH has been in the gym trying to see and evaluate as many prospects as we can. Here’s a group of 2023 prospects who have played well while we were watching.
Lloyd French 6’4 2023 G/F of Downey HS, Stockton Soldiers.
French a solid body prospect with a good all-around game. He can score from different areas on the court. He has a good mid-range jumper, he can finish through contact. He’s a tough minded player who can handle the banging that goes on when he’s in the paint. He has good vision and passing in transition, and he’ll convert filling the lanes in transition. He’s on the Wright’s Watch List
Quentin Kennedy 6’6 2023 W/F of Lincoln San Francisco. Arsenal
Kennedy has an improving set of skills away from the basket. He’s comfortable playing on the wings and perimeter. He likes handling the ball, he’s a willing passer, and does a good job of finding players in transition. He’s a clever player not real fast but uses his body well to create his shot opportunities. He’ll help on the boards and can score in the post area.
Tyree Rose 5’10 2023 PG, SG of Fortune Early College, HS. WCE.
A strong and stocky combo guard who can score as well as handle. A confident guard who can create shots for himself and others. He’s a willing passer. He can make a big shot when the team needs one. He’s hard to guard when he gets into a rhythm going strong on the drive and pulling up for mid-range jumpers.
Lucas Vogel Lucas Vogel 6'4" | SG Menlo | 2023 State CA-N 6’4 2023 SG, CG of Menlo HS, Lakeshow 17 Gonzalez.
A quality guard who can work from either guard position. He’s a heady player who can knock down the open shot at a good rate all the way out past the 3-pt line, he has a solid one or two dribble drive pull-up He’s an excellent decision maker with the ball, his vision and passing are good. He’ll get his fair share of rebounds from the guard position. He’s productive in the paint area, aggressive and good off two feet.
Sam Cline 6’2 2023 PG,SG of Cardinal Newman HS. Lakeshow 17 Gonzalez.
A good all-around guard who has to be guarded beyond the 3pt line. He’ll use his dribble for a dribble drive fade away in the paint that goes in. He has good form and rhythm with his one dribble pull-up from 3. He has range, and some consistency to knock downs 3’s way behind the line. His handles are good enough to get him to his spots for a shot. He’s on the Wright’s Watch List.
Gavin Vogensen 6’5 2023 PG, SG of Cardinal Newman HS. Lakeshow 17 Gonzalez.
Vogensen standing around 6’5 plays a solid floor game, with limited mistakes. He takes good care of the ball, has limited turnovers and doesn’t force things. He’s good in open court handling, with good vision to find open players for lay-ups, lobs or in the corner for catch 3’s. He can to get into the paint for jumpers and floaters. He’s on the Wright’s Watch List.
