With the first live recruiting period of the spring, college coaches from all across the country will descend on Indiana’s capital city to watch the many top prospects participating. Many of those prospects will be at the Indianapolis Convention Center downtown for Prep Hoops’ event, The Stage. As we begin to preview the weekend let’s take a look at six prospects that could breakout in front of college coaches.
Tyson Chupp Tyson Chupp 6'1" | PG Bethany Christian | 2024 IN (Bethany Christian 2024/5Star 2024-Landis): Coming off of a strong sophomore season at Bethany Christian, Chupp is ready to hit the Prep Hoops Circuit. The 6’1″ guard is a crafty ball handler with the ability to create his own shot and can also make plays for his teammates. Poised for a solid spring.
Austin Cripe Austin Cripe 6'3" | SG West Noble | 2023 State IN (West Noble H.S. 2023/5Star 2023): Cripe is one that could see his recruitment really take off with a strong tournament this coming weekend. He is a bigger guard at 6’3″ with great athleticism and strength. Excellent at attacking the basket off of the bounce and has proven to be a high-level finisher. College coaches from a variety of levels will want to get eyes on him early this spring.
A.J. Lux A.J. Lux 6'3" | SG Crown Point | 2023 State IN (Crown Point H.S. 2023/Team GRIII 2023 Elite): A 6’5″ sharp-shooter, Lux should have some Division I coaches circling with a strong showing this weekend. He currently holds an offer from Division II Purdue Northwest. One of the elite shooters in a very deep Indiana Class of 2023, Lux is ranked as a Top 25 prospect in the state.
Wiatt McLaughlin Wiatt McLaughlin 6'1" | SG Whiteland | 2024 State IN (Whiteland H.S. 2024/EG10 2024 Red): An under-the-radar 2024 guard, Mclaughlin is a very athletic prospect that averaged 10.7 points per game for a 14-10 Whiteland squad. Now running with EG10 2024 Red on the Prep Hoops Circuit, he will showcase his excellent driving ability and elevation at the rim. High upside 6’1″ guard.
Tyler Parrish Tyler Parrish 6'3" | SG Chesterton | 2024 State IN (Chesterton H.S. 2024/Team GRIII 2024 Elite): The second leading scorer for the 29-1, state-runner Chesterton Trojans, Parrish is poised for a strong spring and summer. He is an excellent shooter that has continued to improve off of the bounce as well. Crafty enough to attack a closeout now, which he gets a lot of with his shooting ability. Knows how to score the basketball.
Patrick Schott Patrick Schott 6'5" | PF Perry Meridian | 2023 State IN (Perry Meridian H.S. 2023/Indiana Elite Swish 2023): Strong interior presence at 6’5″ with solid footwork on the block. All-Conference player as a junior that will be an interesting small college forward to track over the coming months. Good rebounder and positional defender. If he continues to improve his face-up ability he could definitely attract some attention on the circuit.
