Here are seven 16U prospects that college coaches should keep an eye on this weekend in Indy:
Caden Wilkins Caden Wilkins 6'7" | SF Bettendorf | 2024 State #196 Nation IA — SG — Iowa Barnstormers
Currently ranked as the top prospect in Iowa’s 2024 class, Wilkins could be in for a massive AAU season. Wilkins is a true two-way player that is able to make a big impact on both ends of the court. On offense, he uses his skill to convert on shots from all three levels. On defense, he uses his size and length to make life difficult for whoever he is guarding.
Kareem Earl Kareem Earl 6'5" | SF Iowa City West | 2024 State IA — SF — Iowa Barnstormers
Earl is a prospect that has a lot of upside. The 6-foot-4 small forward is a very talented scorer who is good at driving to the hoop and finishing difficult layups. Because of his ability to guard multiple positions, the small forward is also a tremendous defender. Earl has yet to really see his recruitment take off. But if he plays this weekend like we know he is capable of, college coaches should flood his phone.
Max Woods Max Woods 5'11" | PG Chanhassen | 2024 State MN — PG — MN Fury Zurn
Woods is a coach’s dream at the point guard position. He is capable of scoring well, creating offense for others, and playing lockdown defense. Ranked as a top 20 prospect in the class of 2024 in Minnesota, look for Woods to really make a name for himself this spring.
Fitz Freeman Fitz Freeman 6'6" | C Robbinsdale Armstrong | 2024 State MN — PF — MN Chill
Freeman is an athletic power forward prospect that uses his 6-foot-6 frame to block shots and protect the paint. On offense, he is also very good about using his size to finish through contact. Playing in his first AAU season with MN Chill, Look for Freeman to catch the eyes of scouts and college coaches at The Stage this weekend.
Quinn Burns Quinn Burns 5'9" | PG Westosha Central | 2024 State WI — PG — World Hoops Elite
Burns is a speedy point guard who also happens to possess elite ball handling skills. He uses this combination of quickness and handles to blow by defenders and get to the rim. He is a little undersized for his position, but Burns makes up for his lack of size with skill. Once again playing for World Hoops Elite this AAU season, look for the PG to raise his stock.
Joey LaChapell Joey LaChapell 5'10" | PG Appleton East | 2024 State WI — PG — Wisconsin Crusaders
Coming off a productive sophomore season at Appleton East, Lachapell is looking to continue his great play on the AAU circuit. A deadly shooter who doesn’t miss many open shots, the Crusaders point guard is one of the most efficient prospects in Wisconsin. He always more than willing to pass up a good look for a great one.
KJ LaMonte KJ LaMonte 6'2" Davenport North | 2024 IA — G — Quad City Shockers
After earning first team honors at the Hard Work Region Kick Off, Lamonte is coming back for more at The Stage. Electric as a slasher and also very good as a shooter, Lamonte is the full package on the offensive end of the court. He had multiple high scoring output games in Iowa, and I expect the same this weekend in Indy.
