Miami High head coach Humberto “Tico” Govea and his staff put on a tremendous event. There is a ton of talent for coaches right here in our backyard.
Here are some thoughts…
Esteban “Blast” Lluberes has unlimited range. The 5-foot-10 point guard was shooting and connecting from well beyond the 3-point line. Lluberes also has a great shake-and-bake and handle that will leave defenders flat footed. He plays tough off the drive while using his body to shield defenders at the basket. Moreover, Lluberes is a feisty defender. Lynn and head coach Jeff Price have a good one coming to Boca Raton.
Jerome Wallace is a tough looking kid. The 6-foot-6, 275-pound forward can impose his will around the paint using his frame. Wallace is also very athletic for his size. I saw him get up in the air and score off a fancy up-an-under layup. Wallace averaged 12.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game for Miami Killian .He committed to Clark Atlanta University for football on April 9th.
Jimel Lane Jimel Lane 6'7" | PF Palmetto | 2022 State FL showed off his athleticism with a bunch of baskets above the rim. The 6-foot-7 guard has serious bounce in the open floor or off lob passes. Lane also featured a pull-up and perimeter game.
Kuran Bryant Kuran Bryant 6'5" | PF Coral Gables | 2022 State FL has a strong upper body while moving well with the basketball. The 6-foot-6 guard/forward can use his frame to score down low and bruise smaller players. Bryant also has good foot speed and handle to stretch the floor. Moreover, his movement in the open floor and vision is quite strong. He has a lot of upside.
Jesus Rivas Jesus Rivas 6'9" | PF Brito | 2022 State FL is a mountain in the paint. The 6-foot-8 center has a burly frame that can be very damaging on offense and defense. Rivas can power his way for easy baskets right at the rim. He can also shield out his assignment for easy defensive rebounds. Rivas averaged 9.2 rebounds while shooting 49 percent from the field at Miami High. He also recorded over four blocks per game. Rivas has a place at the college level, especially as his athleticism and footwork improves.
Romulo Delgado-Gonzalez can really pull-up and shoot. The 6-foot-3 guard has a quick release and crafty handle to his game. Delgado-Gonzalez plays with good awareness and will find his spot on the floor. He is attending MIT. Not much better schools to attend as a student-athlete!
Lionel Swaby Lionel Swaby 6'7" | PF Norland | 2022 State FL has a lot of athletic talent. The 6-foot-7 forward can move in the open floor. Swaby is lean but can get out and go in transition. I think he has plenty of bounce and reach to be a solid rebounder and rim protector. Swaby recorded 6.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game for Miami Norland.
