Proving Ground: 17U All Tournament Team

<p data-pm-slice="1 1 []">Proving Grounds dropped central and southwest Florida All Star teams in Tampa. This was a hard roster to select but these guys below had the production and upside to be no brainers. He’s an athletic lead guard that makes plays out of the pick and roll. He’s quick enough to gain separation on moves. Has the explosiveness to finish above the rim in a crowd. He’s made improvements as a jump shooter filling it with midrange pull ups and beyond the arc. Since his time in Daytona he’s received offers from New Mexico State, NJIT, and Alabama A&amp;M University.</p> <p><strong><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Tre-Lockett.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1432540 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Tre-Lockett-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>[player_tooltip player_id="962858" first="Tre" last="Lockett"] | PSB</strong></p> <p>Lockett continues to improve on what feels like game by game basis. The 6’4 combo guard can create for himself and others. This PSB team allows him to show off his three level scoring bag. He can get a step on his man for looks at the rim, stop on a dime for pull-ups, and knock down the three. Over four games he hovered around 20+ points giving 30 and a pair of posters in the closing game.</p> <p><strong><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/IMG_8657.jpg"><img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1441766" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/IMG_8657-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>Mikey Reyes | Liberty Edge</strong></p> <p>Reyes blends size and scoring instincts. The 6’4 guard is an explosive finisher on the break. The athleticism and power translate to the halfcourt where he can get to the paint and his pull-up. Reyes led his team in a comeback win taking defender after defender off the dribble finishing with 30 points in overtime. He’s a good off-ball shooter that knocked down multiple threes in each game with high efficiency.</p> <p><strong><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/PH-John-Gamble.jpg"><img class="size-thumbnail wp-image-1432802 alignleft" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/PH-John-Gamble-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>[player_tooltip player_id="1310825" first="John" last="Gamble"] | SWFL Hoops</strong></p> <p>Gamble is known for his ridiculous athleticism but he’s using this summer to sharpen his shooting. While the 2023 prospect did show he can get in the paint when he wants it’s the shooting beyond the arc that lands him on this list. He hit six threes in one of the best games of the weekend finishing with 20 points. Many of those came off the dribble. He was consistent from the perimeter in each game hitting 2 or more shots beyond the arc.</p> <p><strong><a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Idell-Walton-III.jpg"><img class="alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-1432548" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/ph/uploads/2022/04/Idell-Walton-III-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a>[player_tooltip player_id="956795" first="JJ" last="Walton"] III | PHS Academy </strong></p> <p>Walton was a man amongst boys on this stop of the circuit. The 6’7 forward was a walking double-double using his length, strength, and motor. He’s a strong finisher above the rim. A tough-as-nails defender that can lock down on the perimeter and the post. Walton III finishes above the rim with ease, runs the floor, and hits floaters. The 2022 prospect recently committed to Indian River State College.</p>
