On this weekend, the top ballers competed in the 3-Point Shootout, the Dunk Contest, and the highly anticipated All-Star Game. The top unsigned seniors in the city were given a chance to showcase their remarkable skill sets one final time before moving on to bigger and better things. Here we recap and break down the Team South’s Standout All-Stars.
C.J. Williams | Forward | North Crowley HS
Williams came into the game, received the ball at the top of the key, and had one thing on his mind and that was to dunk on whoever stood underneath the basket. Williams put his man in a body bag and brought a lot of excitement to the court with his high-flying actions at 6-foot-7.
Zach Lee Zach Lee 6'5" | SG RWG Stem Academy | 2022 State TX | Shooting Guard | Young Men’s Leadership Academy
Standout score, Zach Lee Zach Lee 6'5" | SG RWG Stem Academy | 2022 State TX had it going from the tip, putting points on the board early, looking determined to take home the All-Star MVP. Lee dropped a quick 12 points in 5 minutes by hitting 2 deep threes, converting 2 contested layups, and drilling both of his free throw attempts.
Deshaun Russell | Point Guard | Crowley HS
Senior lead guard, Deshaun Russell played with great poise and confidence, Russell kept his eyes locked on the basket at all times, he was completely unphased by defenders challenging his shot on the perimeter and at the rim. Russell could’ve easily gone off and scored the game-high but he didn’t force his offense, and he still made his presence felt from three as well as inside the lane.
Wayne Wiggins | Point Guard | Mansfield Legacy HS
6-foot Wayne Wiggins upped the tempo the moment he stepped onto the floor. This man plays fast with a great feel for the game. Playing at top speed allowed Wiggins to see the entire floor giving him the chance to attack the hole with a full head of steam or kick it to an open shooter or cutting teammate. Awesome handle and control of the rock, each bounce took him somewhere, and whenever hit his dribble pull back his defender was in a world of trouble. Wiggins also displayed great body control, and good hang time on his crafty finishes when contorting mid-air going up and under the defender’s arms before completing the shot on the opposite side of the basket.
Noel Kabanga Noel Kabanga 6'3" | SF Euless Trinity | 2022 State TX | Small Forward | Euless Trinity HS
Texas-ranked senior Noel Kabanga Noel Kabanga 6'3" | SF Euless Trinity | 2022 State TX , came up clutch in one of the biggest moments of the game. Kabanga drilled two pressure-induced three-pointers to keep the score close and the next to tie the game up late with 2 minutes remaining. Kabanga’s offensive game looked effortless at times, he was hard to stop on the drive and crucial from long-range.
