6-3 F Effrin Smith – South GA Wolves – Westover
A Class 4A All-State pick, Effrin Smith is a hard playing combo-forward that does a great job battling in the paint. Though he is a bit undersized and somewhat of a tweener at the next level, Smith provides reliable effort and toughness. Aside from putbacks and doing the dirty work, Smith is a steady scorer off the bounce when slashing to the hoop. He has some back-to-the-basket post moves as well, ball faking and then spinning the other way for turnaround jumpers. Smith is battle-tested and a solid option for JUCOs or small programs.
6-1 G Keshay Walton – South GA Wolves – Westover
I really liked the way Keshay Walton approached the game on Saturday. He came out aggressive and with something to prove. He banged in a step-back And-1 three that set the tone early in his 23-point, 7-rebound, 2-assist, 2-steal outburst. Walton is a strong athlete that scores from multiple levels. He slices into the lane with ease but also drilled three long balls and got to the line seven times. He creates for others when attacking the hoop. Walton is a sneaky good player.
6-3 W Kennard Norris – South GA Wolves – Dougherty
One of the best high flyers from the 229, Kennard Norris caught three dunks in a win over EOTO Brothers. The bouncy wing gets the vast majority of his points in the paint and is a proven rebounder, averaging 10.8 points and 7.6 rebounds as a senior. Adding range on his jumper will make him more than just an energetic athlete. Either way, his motor covers up for any weaknesses in his game.
5-10 PG Cedric Johnson – South GA Wolves – Monroe
Johnson had a well-rounded offensive game Saturday afternoon. He hit a pair of threes, scored from the mid-range, got a putback and made a layup for 12 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. Johnson made the defense pay whenever they went under screens with his three-point shot.
6-0 PG Cam Ball – South GA Wolves – Westover
Ball is a floor general. His impact goes deeper than the box score. He can score when needed, but it’s his ability to be at the right place at the right time that stands out. Ball makes winning plays, chipping in on rebounds and making the right rotations on defense. As a point guard, he sees the floor well and has a high assist:turnover ratio.
