#29 Warriors – Jacolby Sells – 6’1″ – SG – 2022 – Leggett
Sells took the opportunity throughout the day to show off his length, athleticism, and total lockdown ability as a perimeter defender. He has the potential to be a reliable catch-and-shoot threat, hitting a couple shots from distance during the showcase, but he repeatedly put his ability to push the pace and get into the paint on display. He looks to play fast every opportunity he can get and seemed to love to run in the open court. He finished strong under the basket on multiple occasions and used his long arms to his advantage to get good looks at the rim. On defense, he was a complete menace and forced several turnovers, constantly disrupting the flow of the opposition’s offense. He showed good lateral movement to stay with his matchup at all times and had fantastic timing to reach in and knock the ball loose as a 1-on-1 defender. He had great instincts as an off-ball defender, as well, and got his long arms into passing lanes several times.
#10 Yes Prep – Alex George – 6’1″ – PG – 2022 – YES Prep Northside
Alex George was the star for Team Yes Prep and put on a fantastic performance in transition. It seemed like nearly every time Yes Prep had the ball, Alex was sprinting down the court ready for an outlet pass to spark a fast break opportunity. He had several finishes in transition, constantly running the floor, and getting layups to fall time and time again. He was active on the offensive boards and showed a fantastic finishing touch around the rim once securing the second chance and he made several nice passes, showing he is a capable distributor when called upon. He also showed he’s a solid catch-and-shoot threat from beyond the arc. On defense, he stayed active with his hands, tipping passes, knocking the ball loose, and coming away with several steals.
#12 Yes Prep – Jeremiah George – 6’5″ – SF – 2022 – YES Prep Northside
Jeremiah George showcased his ability to score from all three levels and relentlessly attack the offensive boards. He wasn’t ball dominant whatsoever but provided a nice scoring punch by getting open off the ball and knocking down several shots from both inside and outside. He has a nice shooting stroke both off the dribble and off the catch, and he has a fantastic touch around the rim. It seemed as though offensive rebounding was his calling card for the day as he was constantly attacking the boards and securing them in bunches, giving his team several second chances. He didn’t make too many highlight plays on the defensive end, but he showed great footwork and got a good contest on nearly every shot taken against him.
#4 Celtics – Cory J Ruben Cory J Ruben 5'10" | SG La Porte | 2022 State TX – 5’10” – PG – 2022 – La Porte
Ruben was the only Prep Hoops ranked player at the showcase last Saturday and he definitely looked the part. He did a little of everything and was extremely confident with the ball in his hands. He showed great control of the ball, maneuvering around the different defenses thrown at him, and got to his spots with ease, hitting shots off the dribble from midrange and beyond the arc. He got into the paint with ease, as well, and used a variety of ways to get the basket, hitting smooth floaters and powering through for strong layups. He also set his teammates up multiple times with good vision and quick passes. There weren’t too many highlight plays on defense, but he had quick hands and great coordination to knock the ball loose several times or get in the way of passing lanes.
#22 Warriors – Rueben Doria – 6’0″ – PG – 2023 – Manvel
Doria was a part of a talented Warriors squad and could have easily been overshadowed by several of his ball-dominant teammates, but he made sure to make an impact and get noticed through his tough defense and fantastic all-around scoring ability. He hit several shots from distance off the catch, getting open off the ball extremely well, and then draining it off a quick and precise release. He also made numerous sharp and timely cuts to the basket, putting his terrific basketball IQ on display, and showing off a great touch around the basket once he received the ball. He ran the court well and pushed the pace, getting several fast break finishes to go. His activity on defense was extremely impactful, as well, and he was a menace on the perimeter, picking pockets, knocking the ball loose, and securing a number of steals.
