Prep Hoops PA Rankings Update: WPIAL 2023 Stock Risers

The Prep Hoops Pennsylvania rankings have dropped for the class of 2023 in the WPIAL coverage area. Our scouts worked extremely hard to develop a comprehensive list of student-athletes for this current. update. With 400 basketball players ranked, Prep Hoops PA has separated itself from the competition for not just quantity but the quality of information about rankings content. We take pride in the promotion of as many players as possible throughout the state while trying to provide them the recognition in prep basketball. Hopefully, when their high school careers come to an end, these young men receive the opportunity to participate at the collegiate level.
Stock Risers (Class of 2023):
#7… Keondre DeShields Keondre DeShields 6'3" | CG Laurel Highlands | 2023 State PA (jumped 13 spots from #20) – 6’3, combo guard, Laurel Highlands High School
- A strong, athletic combo guard that has developed into one of the best players in the state of PA for the class of 2023
- He has the explosiveness to get to the rim off the dribble in the half-court set and on the fast break for monstrous dunks
- His Laurel Highlands team will be playing for a WPIAL title in 5A this weekend
- Keondre is on the radar for a good amount of colleges, but more definitely need to get on the bandwagon for this rising talent
#32… Connor Spratt Connor Spratt 6'3" | PG Seton LaSalle | 2023 State PA (jumped 12 spots from #32) – 6’2, point guard, Seton LaSalle High School
- A skilled guard with the ability to create opportunities for himself as well as his teammates
- His work ethic and knowledge of the game are two qualities that make him stand out
- Due to a transfer from Peters Township this young man was declared ineligible for the playoffs (felt bad for him for sure)
- Connor has garnered a variety of college attention this season with his performance
#25… Matt Stanley Matt Stanley 6'0" | PG Union Area | 2023 State PA (jumped 19 spots from #44) – 6’0, point guard, Union High School
- The son of the head coach at Union HS, he brings the high IQ and leadership necessary to compete at a high level
- A quick, shifty point guard that passes with precision and can “light it up” from the perimeter
- His squad will play for the 1A WPIAL championship this weekend
- Matt will deservingly play ball at the next level and the interest is growing for this young baller
#44… Jason Rodrigguez Jason Rodrigguez 6'4" | PF Passport Academy | 2023 PA (jumped 40 spots from #84) – 6’5, power forward, Perry Traditional Academy
- A tall, athletically gifted post player who has developed into a solid performer within the junior class
- He has terrific shot-blocking ability and quick, vertical explosion for slam dunks in the lane
- A transfer from Westinghouse, this young man grew into his role at his new school
- Jason is receiving interest from D3 and JUCO schools at the moment
#48… Jaydon Carr Jaydon Carr 6'0" | SG Gateway | 2023 State PA (jumped 42 spots from #90) – 6’0, shooting guard, Gateway High School
- His ball-handling skills are a strong part of his game in half-court offense and out in transition
- An above-average defender that causes havoc with quick hands for steals and deflections
- A loss in the semifinals for Gateway occurred this week
- Jaydon has a few D3 schools showing interest and more coaches will be involved moving forward this spring/summer
#63… Drew Sleva Drew Sleva 5'10" | PG Chartiers Valley | 2023 State PA (jumped 13 spots from #76) – 6’1, shooting guard, Chartiers Valley High School
- He is a knockdown shooter with an extremely quick release coming off screens or on pull-up jumpers in transition
- This young man has a strong basketball IQ and shows leadership on and off the court
- Despite a transfer from Montour, he adjusted well to his new surroundings
- Drew is a developing talent which will lead to opportunities at the college level
#70… Sean Aiken Sean Aiken 6'0" | PG Eden Christian Academy | 2023 State PA (jumped 17 spots from #18) – 6’0, combo guard, Eden Christian Academy
- His all-around hustle on the defensive end of the floor makes him a nightmare to play against for opposing teams
- With a sound basketball IQ and strong leadership qualities, he has become a proven threat during games
- The Eden Christian Warriors were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the playoffs, but this performer gave his best effort
- Sean has a good amount of collegiate offers for cross country as the reigning 1A WPIAL champion
