College Commitment: Nathan Senatra (2022 Clackamas)
He had to wait his turn behind some very talented players, but Nathan Senatra Nathan Senatra 6'9" | PF Clackamas | 2022 State OR got his chance his senior season with Clackamas. The lanky 6-foot-10 post stepped into a prominent role with the Cavs in 2021-22 and as the season went on, his contributions on both ends of the court were invaluable in a post-season run. Now that the season has concluded, Senatra has also determined where he’ll be playing his college ball and recently made a commitment to Linfield for his future athletic and academic pursuits.
“It was nice how close the school was to home and they’ve had a lot of good bigs in their system,” Senatra said. “So I felt like it would be a good fit for me. In addition all the coaching staff I’ve met have been nothing but friendly and encouraging.”
Linfield had been on the top of Senatra’s list for quite some time. So when he got word from head coach Shanan Rosenberg that the Wildcats wanted him on their roster, it was something he knew he needed to accept. What the school is getting is a big man who has continued to improve as a player. As this past season went on for Senatra, you could tell his confidence grew. He finished post plays strong inside and his height and length made a difference on the defensive end, blocking shots and securing boards. As much as his game has improved, Senatra knows there’s still work to do.
“Definitely my physical strength and conditioning, as I play a very physical position,” Senatra said. “So putting on muscle would greatly help me finishing inside and ripping down rebounds. And I really need to work on my lateral quickness so I can guard smaller/faster guys out on the perimeter.”
Now that he’s headed off to play college ball, Senatra can look back on this past season with the Cavs with a lot of pride. “Senior year for me was personally my favorite year at Clackamas,” Senatra said. “It turned out great in my opinion. All my teammates were not only skilled basketball players, but also just good people. And Coach (Cameron) Mitchell was probably one of the most passionate basketball coaches I’ve ever had, which made our team great competitors.”
Our congratulations go out to Senatra and his family on his commitment. He currently ranks as the #82 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2023 rankings.
