Westlake High School vs Warren High School
Westlake High School:
Donovan Santoro Donovan Santoro 6'8" | SF Austin Westlake | 2023 CA-S – Simmons 2022 6’7 Westlake High School
Donovan is an active wing who thrives at finishing in the paint over smaller competition. He possess great ball handling skills and an ability to beat his defenders off the dribble, once he has a step it is nearly impossible for guards and wings to make him uncomfortable as he is getting to the paint. He is great at using his long arms and length to hold the ball out and away from his defender, and contorting his shot angle in the paint. He has a reliable jumper that he can get to on the corners, and is a consistent floor spacing option. His long arms allow him to be a really deadly offensive weapon as he has an incredibly high release point. He is good at knowing where to attack the defense, if they come to take away his jumper he simply shot fakes and gets into the paint, or if they sit back waiting on him to attack the bucket he calmly rises up for a quick jumper. On the defensive end he has great length to protect the rim when his defender tries to get downhill on him. I would like to see him work to become a more aggressive help defender and work on sliding over to protect the paint after his teammate gets beat.
Preston Clark Preston Clark 6'6" | PF Austin Westlake | 2022 State TX 2022 6’7 Westlake High School
Preston is the definition of a two-way stretch forward with his ability to dominate on the glass, and use his shot making ability to be a real weapon on the perimeter. While he is not the most athletic player in the gym, he uses his high basketball IQ to pick apart defenses in the full and half court with his passing and handle. He is great at recognizing his mismatches and attacking the paint when a smaller player is on him, and he is not afraid to stretch the defense out on the three point line. He is great at relocating after grabbing an offensive rebound and taking an open shot opportunity. On the defensive end, when he clears the glass he always has his head up to make the right outlet pass, or full court pass to a streaking teammate. He is also comfortable and confident with his handle and can get around other forwards in the full court.
Jaden Greathouse Jaden Greathouse 6'3" | PG Austin Westlake | 2023 TX 2023 6’3 Westlake High School
Jaden is an athletic monster, the dual sport athlete led his team to a State Championship with three receiving touch downs in the Championship game. He is the lead guard most of the time down for Westlake as well, and is tasked with creating offense in the half court and spreading the ball around to his teammates. He is great at breaking presses with his end to end speed with a live dribble and can make defender’s miss in the full court. He has a lightning quick crossover and he is great at using his defender’s momentum against them. He is a reliable shooter off the dribble, even from deep NBA level three point range. His ability to consistently hit shots forces defenses to come out and contest him hard, and really opens up the floor for his wings and forwards to attack the paint. Greathouse already boasts double digit division one offers in football, but it is clear he could also have a future on the hardwood as well. Do not forget this name!
Warren High School:
Jaylen Corcker – Johnson 2023 6’7 Warren High School
Jaylen is an impressive player who knows how to use his size and strength to his advantage. He dominates in the paint on both ends of the floor and has an impressive amount of agility for his size. I was blown away by his ability to run the floor as a rim runner or as the primary ball handler. He dominates getting downhill and can seemingly bully his way through any contact. He has an ability to play with another skilled big man due to his ability to dominate at all three levels. He consistently made the right reads every time down the floor. He scored at a consistent rate in the mid-range and beyond the arc which allowed the paint to be that much more open for him to dominate later in the game.
Aden Mendez 2023 5’10 Warren High School
Aden is a high-level point guard who has the ability to get to his own shot off the bounce at all three levels. He specializes in getting to his one to two dribble pull-up in the midrange which pairs well with Warren’s system that heavily involves three big men. So many teams are worried about protecting the rim and the three-point line and Mendez is good at getting to his shot in the midrange. He is great at going coast to coast and leading the break with his passing and ability to push the ball up the court. He is a scrappy on-ball defender who is good at getting underneath his defenders.
Reagan High School vs Brennan High School
Reagan High School:
Trey Thompson 2022 6’1 Reagan High School
Trey is a special two way combo guard who was one of the main reason’s Reagan was able to make the championship game. He effected the game in a plethora of ways, whether he was getting steals and going coast to coast, setting up his back court running mate Jackson Adams (2022) for open looks or getting to his shot beyond the arc or in the mid-range. He is a crafty finisher at the rim and knows how to contort his body to avoid contact. He has a nice touch floater that he can get over taller defenders. Thompson was a very impressive player at the tournament and I am excited to see how far Reagan can go with this special senior back court they have.
Jackson Adams 2022 6’4 Reagan High School
Jackson is a sniper from beyond the arc. He displayed an ability to score at will despite intense defense and him being his team’s main offensive weapon. He attacks the basket at a high level as well, however his main damage is normally done beyond the arc. He is an incredibly consistent shooter when given the time to set his feet and square up. It was a pleasure watching him work all three levels of the floor to get to his spots. He displayed an ability to get to his midrange jumper at will as well and even had a soft touch floater he got to at will.
Luke Price 2023 6’0 Reagan High School
Luke is the true definition of a point guard. He specializes in creating open looks for his teammates in the full court. His passing ability allowed Reagan to consistently break any type of full-court pressure that they faced. He has fantastic vision in the half-court as well and knows how to fire tight passes into his teammate’s shooting pockets. He also displayed a real ability to shoot off the catch and stretch the floor. When he is not involved in the offense he is comfortable operating along the wings and corners. He is a very aware player on both ends of the floor and has a real nose for the ball and knows when to pick passes in the passing lanes.
Aidan Richard 2024 Guard 6’5 Reagan High School
Aidan is a do it all wing for Reagan who has real potential to become a dynamic player. His play allows his team to run 5 out sets with his ability to knock down shots from the outside and the mid-range. He is a confident ball handler with an ability to get to the rim in a few dribbles off a shot fake. He moves off the ball very well and knows when to cut hard, flash to the mid post or pop out to stretch the floor and draw his defender outside. I would like to see him work on his strength down low and being more confident whenever he attacks the rim. He has a big frame, and can use it to bully defenders, especially as he continues to grow into his body.
Brennan High School
Kingston Flemings Kingston Flemings 6'1" | PG San Antonio Brennan | 2025 State #80 Nation TX 2025 6’1 Brennan High School
Kingston is one of the most impressive point guards in all of Texas. He has the ability to score off the dribble at will at all three levels but truly makes his mark with his vision and ability to set up his teammates. Whether he was firing full court passes to his teammates for easy looks, or attacking the basket and drawing a second defender and finding his open teammates from the backside rotation, Flemmings picked apart almost every defense thrown at him. His ability to control the game and dictate every possession was incredibly impressive. In his final game of the tournament I saw him at, he lost his back court running mate and starting center, and easily picked up all the slack. He finished with 24 of his teams 37 total points and created almost all of the looks for his teammates.
Camden Cowgill Camden Cowgill 6'3" | SG San Antonio Brennan | 2025 State #382 Nation TX 2025 6’1 Brennan High School
Camden is a skilled and sharp shooting guard who thrives at getting to his spots beyond the arc and in the mid-range. You can tell he thinks about the game at a very high level with his ability to always seem to be in the right spot on both ends of the floor. I was blown away by his confidence and willingness to hunt for his own shot no matter the defense. His consistent aggression and scoring ability really propells his team, and the connection he has with his freshman point guard counter part ( Kingston Flemings Kingston Flemings 6'1" | PG San Antonio Brennan | 2025 State #80 Nation TX 2025) is a clear indication that Brennan will be a force to be reckoned with over the next few years as these two highly skilled guards continue to develop and make each other better.
Deon Williams Deon Williams 6'7" | SF San Antonio Brennan | 2022 State TX 2022 6’6 Brennan High School
Deon is an athletic rim running forward who dominates on both ends of the floor. I loved seeing him use his size to seal his opponents and get easy looks for himself. He has a plethora of shots he can get to on the block and is a dominant and consistent finisher in the post. He knows that if he flashes to the rim his guards will get him the ball which makes him run and work that much harder to get easy looks for himself. His rim running ability and true connection he has with his two lead guards allow him to find easy looks with ease seemingly everytime down the court.
