Continue ReadingThe NE Division I Regional Semifinal at Copley High School was packed, with barley any open seats for fans to sit at. This game went down to the wire with Hoban making a huge run in the fourth quarter thanks to some full-court pressure that saw Green turn the ball over and allow the Knights to send the game to overtime where they took control and found a way to keep their season alive. Now, let’s break down the top prospects from the contest.
Jonas Nichols Jonas Nichols 6'3" | SG Hoban | 2024 State OH , 6’3 SG Archbishop Hoban 2024: Nichols is a high-level shot creator and maker and put those skills on display late in the game. With his team down three points with 30 seconds left, Nichols brought the ball up the court and hit the defender with a crossover to a step-back jumper that was all net and sent the game to overtime. Nichols had average efficiency throughout the game, but I was impressed with his ability to create offense for himself. Nichols is a Division I level prospect that has stayed a little under the radar compared to other prospects of similar talent in his class.
Will Scott, 6’0 PG Archbishop Hoban 2023: I walked away very impressed with Scott after my first time watching him in person. Scott is a solid point guard who made some plays driving to the basket and knocked down the open jumper when given the opportunity. I’ll be wanting to see Scott again next season but at this point I’d expect him to debut in the top 100 of the next 2023 rankings update.
Logan Vowles, 6’3 SG Archbishop Hoban 2023: Vowles is a prototypical three-point specialist who struggled to find open looks, but when he got space, it was going up and going in. I was impressed with his ability to stay shot ready despite going stretches without having a decent look at the rim. Vowles is a valuable high school player and likely pursued by plenty of Division III programs for his size and shooting ability.
Zack Oddo Zack Oddo 6'5" | SF Green | 2022 State OH , 6’5 SF Uniontown Green 2022: Oddo has had a great senior season and showed his growth as a player to me in this game. Oddo looks more confident with the ball in his hands and has improved his outside shooting. Oddo is headed to Walsh next season and his growth as a prospect tells me that he could be playing a role earlier than I originally expected.
Nikola Bundalo, 6’7 PF Uniontown Green 2025: The freshman didn’t get a lot of action but I liked what I saw out of Bundalo in limited minutes. Bundalo had a tip-in at the buzzer to end the first quarter and made some nice passes from the top of the key. This is a guy who college coaches will get familiar with in a couple seasons.
