All State Finals Teams

North Daviess, Providence, Beech Grove, and Indianapolis Cathedral all survived the difficult month of March and put their names in the history books by becoming the 2022 IHSAA State Champions. These games included a double-overtime thriller to start the day and a big comeback in the middle of the day. Let’s take a look at the top players from the State Finals on Saturday.

First Team

Anthony Ball Anthony Ball 6'6" | PF Decatur Central | 2023 State IN (Beech Grove) – 6’6″ 2023 PF – 17 points and 20 rebounds to lead Beech Grove to their first-ever state title with a comeback win over Mishawaka Marian

Clark Barrett Clark Barrett 6'5" | SF Lafayette Central Catholic | 2022 State IN (Lafayette Central Catholic) – 6’5″ 2022 SF –  13 pts and 10 rebounds in one of the two double-doubles from the weekend and kept LCC in the game all the way until the very end

Devin Collins (North Daviess) – 6’0″ 2022 SG – 15 points and 5 rebounds including a big 8 minutes in the two overtime periods to lead North Daviess to their first State title.

Casey Kaelin Casey Kaelin 6'3" | SG Providence | 2023 State IN (Providence) – 6’3″ 2023 SG – 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists as Providence’s offense was nearly unstoppable en route to the State title.

Jaron Tibbs Jaron Tibbs 6'4" | SF Cathedral | 2023 State IN (Indianapolis Cathedral) – 6’5″ 2023 SF – 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists as his athleticism was unmatched in Cathedral’s route over Chesterton

Second Team

Xavier Booker Xavier Booker 6'11" | PF Cathedral | 2023 State #4 Nation IN (Indianapolis Cathedral) – 6’11″ 2023 PF – 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 blocks as he was a dominant and unmatched force inside to lead Cathedral over Chesterton

Jaxon Edwards Jaxon Edwards 6'6" | SF Cathedral | 2022 State IN (Indianapolis Cathedral) – 6’6″ 2022 SF 14 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 blocks as his pure athleticism was on full display, and his defense made Chesterton uncomfortable all-day

Connor Essegian Connor Essegian 6'4" | SG Central Noble | 2022 State #170 Nation IN (Central Noble) – 6’4″ 2022 SG – 18 points and 4 rebounds as he led the comeback charge against Beech Grove, but it was not enough

Jeremiah Tate (Beech Grove) – 6’0″ 2023 SG – 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists as he stepped up as a great second option behind Ball and led the comeback over Mishawaka Marian for Beech Grove’s first State title

Grant Williams (Providence) – 6’4″ 2022 PF – 13 points and 7 rebounds as he stepped up on the biggest stage for one of the best games of his season.

Third Team

Richard Brooks Richard Brooks 6'3" | SF Mishawaka Marian | 2022 State IN (Mishawaka Marian) – 6’3″ 2022 SG – 13 points and 2 rebounds in the loss to Beech Grove

Jaylen Mullen Jaylen Mullen 6'0" | PG North Daviess | 2023 State IN (North Daviess) – 6’0″ 2023 PG – 13 points and 3 assists as he did exactly what his team needed as the team leader in their double-overtime win over LCC

Carson Parrish (Chesterton) – 6’2″ 2022 SG – 7 points and 2 rebounds in the loss to Cathedral

Ryan Schroeder Ryan Schroeder 6'2" | SG Central Noble | 2022 IN (Central Noble) – 6’2″ 2022 SG – 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists as he helped lead the comeback charge that fell short to Providence

Logan Wilson (North Daviess) – 6’3″ 2023 SF – 7 points and 11 rebounds including a couple of big buckets down the stretch to keep the lead over LCC
