6A State Championship Standouts

The 6A State Championship game was all about matchups and both of these teams had guys that could really matchup well against each other. When the number 10 seeded AF Cavemen win the State Championship it shows how good basketball is getting in Utah. Teams in the state have beaten powers in California, Idaho and Texas just to name a few that were ranked above them.
American Fork High School
6’5 G Yaw Reneer Yaw Reneer 6'5" | CG American Fork | 2022 State UT || American Fork High School || 2022 ||
One of the best defenders in the state had the motivation and the knowhow as he was assigned a smaller guard and he was able to use his strength. yaw also pitched in with 10 points and a statement dunk that led with a good defensive stop. Yaw also displayed that he can hit the outside shot when he takes it too. One of the best big guards available in the Class of 2022.
5’11 PG Evan Young Evan Young 5'11" | PG American Fork | 2022 State UT || American Fork High School || 2022 ||
Evan was solid and he was playing with that high motor he usually plays with. He had four huge rebounds which are bigger than you might think as he was the smallest player on the floor as he out rebounded some of the bigger players on the other team.
Corner Canyon High School
6’4 SG Tyler Burraston Tyler Burraston 6'4" | SG Corner Canyon | 2022 State UT || Corner Canyon High School || 2022 ||
Tyler had a great senior season and he went out swinging as he had 12 points all came from beyond the arc. Tyler will have a bright career at the next level as a knockdown shooter.
6’3 G Max Toombs Max Toombs 6'3" | CG Corner Canyon | 2023 State UT || Corner Canyon High School || 2023 ||
Max was being tracked by one of the best defenders in the state and he was still able to get it going a little. It just wasn’t enough. Next season there will not be many guards in the state that can hand with Toombs as he is one of the strongest guards out there.
