Let’s take a look at some guards who have shown off exceptional ball-handling ability so far through the season.
Payton Wehner – 6’0 G – Central Catholic
Wehner, Central Catholic’s quarterback in football, shows off his QB-like vision on the court as well. The point guard is not afraid to pull up and shoot off the dribble, but is best when setting up his teammates and controlling the pace with his confident ball-handling skills.
LA Pratt LA Pratt 6'5" | SF Lincoln Park | 2022 State PA – 6’5″ G – Lincoln Park
The Duquesne commit excels off the dribble. Uses different variations of crossovers to create space between him and his defender and get an open shot for himself. Has used great ball skills to become one of the best scorers in the area.
Michael Quigley – 6’0″ G – Allderdice
Quigley ran the point for Allderdice in its game against Pine Richland last week and showed off great court vision and dribbling ability. Used the hesitation move multiple times to get his defender in the air which allowed him to drive and kick to the team’s shooters. Crisp passer,.
Nate Richards – 5’9″ G – Baldwin
Richards, just a sophomore, sets the table for his teammates from the point guard spot for Baldwin. Takes care of the ball well, rarely turns it over, and is a very talented dribbler. Solid passing guard as well. Not as much of a scorer yet but has the tools to get his teammates open looks.
Jayden Davis Jayden Davis 5'10" | CG Chartiers Valley | 2025 State PA – 5’9″ G – Chartiers Valley
Super fast, super quick guard that gets wherever he want and uses his ball-handling strength to get open shots for himself. One of the most prolific scorers in the WPIAL, and only improving from here. Carves his way through defenses for floaters and uses good touch in the paint to score at a high level.
