Spencer Hutchinson Spencer Hutchinson 6'4" | SF Episcopal School Dallas | 2022 State TX 2022 6’4 Episcopal School Dallas
Spencer is a high flyer who has the ability to finish at the rim over anyone. He has crazy long arms for his height, and paired with his athleticism allows him to throw down over smaller guards and wings with ease. Hutchinson also has the athleticism and hang time to finish around defenders by finishing on the other side of the rim or switching his shot angle when attacking the basket. He is a real threat to score in the paint for a wing which opens up the rest of his game very well.
I loved watching him control the game in the full court. He has the ability to make high level and flashy passes up the court to an open teammate, or running himself to force the defense to react, he always had the opposing team on its heels when he ran in the open court. He has a smooth handle for his size with the ability to score from beyond the arc off the dribble. He has the patented step back in his game which is a real weapon with his ability to finish in the paint.
Tyree Davis 2022 6’7 Pearland Dawson High School
Tyree is an athletic slashing wing who thrives at absorbing contact and finishing at the rim. He is a reliable shooter when given time to spot up, he loves acting as the trailer on the break to open up the three point line for himself. I liked watching him work through being uncomfortable and still working to get up efficient looks all around the court. His slashing ability and his threat to score on the interior makes him a dynamic playmaker from the outside.
He has great body control, paired with a strong confidence in his touch around the basket makes him a truly deadly weapon when coming downhill. His size and athleticism makes him a special player in transition where he thrives. It also helps him out tremendously on the defensive end of the floor, and he is not afraid to contest a shot at the rim screaming in from the back side. His size allows him to slide over and affect most shots at the rim.
Ringo Deng Ringo Deng 6'6" | SF South Grand Prairie | 2022 State TX 2022 6’6 South Grand Prairie High School
Ringo is an aware wing with the ability to wreak havoc on both ends of the floor with his athleticism, size and ability to move his feet. His impressive frame allows him to engulf ball handlers, and allows him to pick off passes in the passing lane, as he does not need much of a jump to beat a player to the ball. His ability to create turnovers allows him and his team to run on the break, where he has the ability to finish with the best of them at the rim. His ability to defend should be a talent that college coaches marvel at, especially paired with his agility and ability to run the floor.
On the glass, he is patient and knows how to seal off defenders. His ability to seal off defenders is also evident in the half court, as he is great in the pick and roll. He can stone wall a defender with a screen and slip to the rim for an easy look in the paint. He is great at finding the ball off the rim and finishing it back up for easy second chance points on offense. I would like to see him work on creating more with a live dribble.
Antwone Gonzales Antwone Gonzales 6'2" | CG Killeen Shoemaker | 2022 State TX 2022 6’3 Shoemaker High School
Antwone is an impressive athlete with an ability to dominate at all three levels. He is an aggressive finisher in the paint and is very quick when getting downhill. His athleticism and ability to leap will allow him to be used as a weapon. He had an explosive windmill dunk on the fast break that sucked the air out of the gym. He scores with ease off the dribble and displayed some very impressive difficult shot making. As a set shooter he is incredibly impressive, he has a lightning quick and high release. He has all the shooting mechanics and ability to translate to the next level immediately.
He scored at an impressive clip when changing his shot angles and fading away from defenders from the mid-range and beyond the arc. I would like to see him look to get the best shot every time down the court more consistently. He has the ability to score in nearly every spot on the floor, he will become an elite weapon as he continues to learn when to get to those spots. I was also very impressed with his ability to be a help defender, whether it was tying up a ball handler in the corner or chasing down a defender on the fast break. Gonzalez led the entire tournament in scoring per game and was nominated to the All Showcase Team at the 2021 San Antonio Spurs High School Showcase.
Deshawn Jagwan Deshawn Jagwan 6'6" | SF Woodrow Wilson | 2022 State TX 2022 6’7 Woodrow Wilson High School
Deshawn is an athletic defender who plays big due to his size and strength down low. He has long arms and a great ability to move in the full court which makes him a weapon to tip passes and run on the break. He has the ability to defend the rim at a high level, can pressure a ball handler, or pick off passes in the passing lane to jump start his team’s fast break opportunities. His ability to defend the rim has propelled his team to a very high level, simply by his ability to shut down easy looks in the paint.
He has a good handle for his size, and uses it to break full court pressure by himself. He showed an ability to take the ball the length of the court himself for some impressive coast to coast finishes. I would like to see more creation with a live dribble and ability to get to his shot off the bounce to create easier looks for himself.
Aidan Patree 2022 6’3 McKinney North High School
Aidan is an aggressive wing who thrives at doing all of the little things right. Whether it was cutting hard to the rim in the half-court, sliding over to protect the rim and leaping with forwards, or showing off his elite athleticism while doing all of the dirty work. Patree was one of my favorite players to watch, he displayed high basketball IQ on both ends of the floor, reading opponents’ passes and creating opportunities for his own teammates. He is a great back-side defender who has no fear at jumping for every block. He also has great hands who have a knack for tying up the ball and swatting away shots at the rim. I would like to see continued development with his shot off the bounce, but he has all the tools to be successful at the next level already.
