Anthony Black Anthony Black 6'7" | PG Duncanville | 2022 State #10 Nation TX 2022 6’7 Duncanville High School
Antony is one of the most skilled prospects in all of Texas. The 6’7 wing is fluid, can score at all three levels and is a special scorer with his back to the basket. His ability to create space out of the post and triple threat allows him to fade away from players. He has a great looking jumper with a fluid motion that he can consistently get off the dribble, at all three levels. What I have been most impressed with was his aggressiveness and willingness to live in the paint. He can destroy smaller matchups on the block and mid post, and quickly attack bigger and slower defenders off the dribble. On the break he is a monster, and uses his speed and athleticism to out run defenders on the break, with the ability to bang on anyone.
He also scores at ease with a live dribble and can attack any defense with a pick and roll. He knows how to manipulate defenses with jab steps and hesitations and is especially good at freezing defenders out of the triple threat. When the defense switches on him in the pick and roll, he easily takes any big man off the bounce and can score in the midrange or blow by him for a look at the rim. When the defense goes under the screen he simply rises up for an easy jumper. The silky smooth wing was recently selected to the McDonalds All American game and boasts offers from a bunch of top programs such as Gonzaga, Duke, Kansas, and Auburn. Which ever team gets a chance to land him at the next level sure is getting one heck of a prospect to work with!
Trae Clayton Trae Clayton 6'5" | SF Dallas Kimball | 2022 State TX 2022 6’5 Dallas Kimball High School
Trae is a skilled forward with the ability to get to his shot off over any one off the dribble. He has a smooth pull up game at all three levels and is very patient and willing to take what the defense gives him. He can operate out of the high post, or along the wing and jab step his way into a look beyond the arc or attack off the dribble and rise up in the midrange. His massive frame allows him to matchup with anyone on the floor, and has the strength to bully defenders in the post and especially at the rim. He can attack any guard off the dribble and use his weight to create separation and finish through any contact they may bring. When switched onto bigger forwards, he can lull them to sleep with his handle and rise over the top of them.
He is an incredibly aggressive rebounder on both ends of the floor, he knows how to high point the ball and his athleticism allows him to out jump most players. He showed a real desire to box out and grab the board to jump start his team in transition. He used his ability to time the ball on the offensive side of the floor as well, leading to tip dunks and easy second chance points at the rim. His smooth shooting stroke, massive frame, aggressiveness and willingness to defend will all easily translate over to the next level. The highly skilled wing has offers from Texas A&M, Texas, Mississippi State, and Nebraska.
Tahaad Davis 2022 6’4 Seven Lakes High School
Tahaad is a special combo wing who can create his own shot from any level of the floor. He has supreme athleticism that allows him to hang in the air and contort his body around defenders. It was very impressive to watch him wreak havoc at all three levels on the offensive end of the floor. He has a reliable shooting touch from beyond the arc, and specializes at spotting up on the wings. He even displayed some deep NBA range on a few three pointers. I loved watching him get downhill against smaller guards and being able to use his hang time to get around bigger defenders in the paint.
Noel Kabanga Noel Kabanga 6'3" | SF Euless Trinity | 2022 State TX 2022 6’4 Euless Trinity High School
Noel is an impressive athlete; he is built like a linebacker he is still agile enough to get around defenders and avoid opponents at the rim and in the paint. I was blown away by how tight his handle was, and has fantastic end-to-end speed with a live dribble. It was a real treat to watch him run in transition, he kept his head up and made the right reads and showed an ability to bang on defenders trying to run with him. He ran his lanes well when he did not have the ball which allowed him to get easy looks.
He is great at using his strength to finish in the paint over undersized guards and wings. He is aggressive in the half court and wants to take his matchup underneath the rim every opportunity he gets. His strength allows him to bully defenders where he wants them to go and finish over them in the paint. He even showed an ability to knock down shots from around the arc and space the floor. I would like to see him continue to work on his shot off the dribble, but that should come with time, especially with as reliable his jumper looks now.
William Nathaniel William Nathaniel 6'5" | SG San Antonio East Central | 2022 State TX 2022 6’5 East Central High School
William is an athletic wing with the ability to score at all three levels, however he makes his mark in the paint. He has to play a big man role for his high school team, but it is not uncomfortable for him to play with his back to the basket and he is great at getting to the rim with his handle. His ability to rebounds on both ends of the floor stood out as well, he uses his size and athleticism to box out defenders and sky for rebounds. He played well against bigs and showed an ability to move his feet and defend guards on the perimeter as well.
I was very impressed at his ball control and ability to dictate the flow of the game with a live dribble. He is a force when attacking downhill and can pass out and create looks for his teammates when the defense collapses on him. He is a beast in the full court and routinely got buckets after grabbing a defensive rebound and beating the opposing team down the floor, muscling through any contact that came his way. Nathaniel has all the tools to become a real weapon at the next level and potentially beyond, and I am interested to see which coach ends up taking a shot on him.
Seth Payne 2022 6’6 Clifton High School
Seth is a dynamic ball handler for his size, he is very comfortable with a live dribble and getting downhill. I was very impressed with his ability to control the game with the ball in his hands. His handle is smooth and allows him to easily take other bigs off the dribble. He can create out of the pick and roll with other bigs or the pick and pop with other guards. He is great at taking what the defense gives him and always seems to take or create a high percentage shot opportunity.
He is a very patient playmaker and shot taker, he does not get sped up into bad looks or opportunities in the half court. You can tell he is working on developing his shot from all three levels, he is getting more comfortable with his shot off the catch and has an ability to stretch the floor and put pressure on the defense by getting to his spots in the midrange. He is a consistent shooter when given time to set his feet and quickly catch and shoot but loves using the threat of his outside jumper to get into the paint. His ability to score the ball in bunches should be fun to watch at the next level.
