Austin Benigni Austin Benigni 5'10" | PG The Woodlands Christian | 2022 State TX 2022 Woodlands Christian Academy (TWCA)
Austin continued to impress as he scored from all three levels of the floor, created open looks for his teammates with some wizardry level passes and fought through some real adversity in this tournament. In the second game his team played, Benigni was diving after a loose ball and ended up getting kicked in the face, causing him to spit up some blood on the sidelines. During his time off the court his team quickly went down ten. When he returned in the second half, you could tell he was a man on a mission. He got to his spots in the midrange, got his shot to go from beyond the arc and attacked the rim with ferocity. Down the stretch, he ended up having 3 assists, a floater and a midrange jumper to seal the game for his team. This was another great opportunity for Benigni to show his dominance on the court.
Chanse Perkins Chanse Perkins 6'5" | SF The Woodlands Christian | 2022 State TX 6’7 2022 Woodlands Christian Academy
Chanse is a high energy forward who can do it all on offense. He possess great touch from the midrange, even as he is fading away from a defender. I was most impressed with his overall on court IQ. He always seemed to be in the right spot, whether it be flashing to the free throw line and quickly spinning for a turn around, or being willing to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim. Woodlands Christian Academy has a special pick and roll combination in him and fellow senior Austin Benigni Austin Benigni 5'10" | PG The Woodlands Christian | 2022 State TX , and they both read each other so well. You can tell the two of them have put the extra time in the gym, Benigni always seems to pick out the right pass where Perkins wants it, and the big man does his best to consistently reward his point guard.
Willie Williams Willie Williams 6'7" | PF Westfield | 2022 State TX 2022 Westfield High School
Willie is a force on the block, he possesses great strength and an array of post moves. He outplayed a lot of very high level bigs, most of which had a few inches on him. I was most impressed with his ability to pass out of the post, especially at tough angles, such as after he spun off someone trying to get to the rim he could easily make that cross court pass to an open shooter. He easily blocked out and sealed opponents on the glass and allowed his high energy teammates to fly around the court and scoop up long rebounds with him. The day after the tournament, Willie received his first offer from Cossatot College, expect more coaches to have their heads turn his way soon…
Sean Elkington 2022 6’7 Crosby High School
Sean is a highly skilled big man who can punish you in a number of ways. He can use his brute size and strength to back you down in the post and bunny hook you to death, or get you on an island in the mid post and create offense or step back beyond the arc and knock down shots when given the time to catch and shoot. I was impressed with his ability to pick apart the defense from the high post and the attention Elkington was one of the most polished big men in attendance at the entire tournament and thrived at all three levels of the floor. He is one to keep watching next year as he takes his talents to the next level, he is currently committed to St. Edwards University in Austin.
Chancellor White Chancellor White 6'6" | SG Richmond Foster | 2022 State TX 6’6 2022 Foster High School
Chancellor is a large combo guard who can really do it all on both ends of the floor. His athletic ability is perfectly paired with his ability to shake defenders with a live dribble, go coast to coast and finish on the break or lock up high level guards. He is great at working without the ball, and knows when to cut back door when his defender turns for a split second for a free dunk at the rim. He is also great at quickly getting his feet set underneath him and always have his hands ready to receive a pass. He even displayed some high level shot making off the dribble, especially when getting to his one to two dribble pull ups.
