Today we take a look at the top players from the Sky-Em League headlined by the Junction City Tigers and Marshfield Pirates.
Mason Ainsworth Mason Ainsworth 6'0" | CG Marshfield | 2022 State OR (2022 Marshfield) – The 6’2 guard is probably the top contender to earn Sky-Em player of the year at this point. Ainsworth has a silky smooth crossover and shows off his range from beyond the arc after creating space from defenders. His length helps him finish well around the rim and also flashes a deadly pull-up jump shot. To open league for the Pirates Ainsworth dropped nearly 40 on the road at Cottage Grove and most recently scored 27 in their win against Grants Pass.
Court Knabe (2023 Junction City) – Knabe doesn’t light up the stat sheet but is always coolheaded no matter the situation. The Junior guard is the engine that makes the top-ranked Tiger machine go. He shows exceptional patience with the ball and will make the correct read every time. Knabe also has a knack for knocking down the most timely three-pointer or taking control and attacking the basket himself.
Kaleb Burnett (2023 Junction City) – Fellow Junior Junction City guard Kaleb Burnett handles more of the scoring for the Tigers. Burnett is crafty around the rim and seems to always be in the correct spot for the offensive rebound. He also shows off his shooting from time to time but does most of his damage inside the arc. Burnett led the Tigers with 19 points in their win on the road against Marshfield as they continue to hold the top spot in the 4A ranks.
Monty Swinson Monty Swinson 6'7" | PF Marshfield | 2022 State OR (2022 Marshfield) – 6’8 Senior Monty Swinson Monty Swinson 6'7" | PF Marshfield | 2022 State OR has multiple games this season with two or more threes and can light it up from that range. Swinson sports probably the best head of hair in the Sky-Em league but also causes havoc on the defensive end with his long and rangy frame. He also can use his length to cap off a Pirate fast break with a dunk in the open court.
