That’s the end of the road for the high school basketball season. Only a handful of schools and their players have a chance to win a state championship.
Most prospects are now in circuit mode. The spring/summer season is an excellent time for kids to get exposure.
I think the following kids are about to breakout. Let’s look into some names…
Gustavo Guimaraes – Westminster Academy
2025 Gustavo Guimaraes has the frame to develop into a post player or stretch player. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 4.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game during his high school season. Guimaraes is currently working on his conditioning and should eventually put on more weight. I think you’ll see his offensive moves and overall structure begin to develop. Guimaraes was already solid defensively, having blocked 1.8 shots per game for Westminster Academy.
Alexander Constanza – Mater Academy Charter
2026 Alexander Constanza had a big-time season for Mater Academy Charter. The 6-foot-7 guard averaged 14.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 49 percent from the floor. Moreover, Constanza went 35-of-78 (45 percent) from deep. On defense, he averaged over a steal and block per game. This is a kid with an all-around game and heavy amount of experience before he hits ninth grade. Constanza can run the floor and will obviously put on more muscle to his frame.
Benny Fragela Benny Fragela 5'11" | SG Columbus | 2025 State FL – Miami Columbus
2025 Benny Fragela Benny Fragela 5'11" | SG Columbus | 2025 State FL should have some momentum after picking up an offer from South Carolina. The 6-foot-2 shooting guard has averaged 8.9 points across 29 games for the 27-2 Explorers. In addition, he has hit 73 3-pointers. Miami Columbus is currently vying for a state title with Fragela as a proponent. His shooting acumen should only grow beyond the 3-point line.
Dylan Burrowes Dylan Burrowes 6'8" | SF Ft. Lauderdale | 2024 State FL – Fort Lauderdale
You can’t teach height, and Dylan Burrowes Dylan Burrowes 6'8" | SF Ft. Lauderdale | 2024 State FL has it. The 6-foot-7 forward averaged over nine points and 6.6 rebounds per game while shooting 41 percent from the field for the Flying L’s. Moreover, he had four double-doubles and twelve double-figure scoring outputs. Burrowes should continue to work on his offensive efficiency around the rim moving forward. He has the length and athleticism to polish his moves. Given his natural size, he could be a consistent double-double going into his junior season.
Cole McCabe Cole McCabe 6'7" | SF Miami Country Day | 2023 State FL – Miami Country Day
I think 2023 Cole McCabe Cole McCabe 6'7" | SF Miami Country Day | 2023 State FL has a nice amount of upside. Per information, the 6-foot-7 wing averaged over 6 points and five rebounds per game for the Spartans. McCabe has some bounce and can run the floor. Given his size, you can see how he would be a problem to stop in space. Moving forward, I think he can be a high end rebounder and efficient shooter given his frame. At the least, McCabe can clean up on putbacks around the rim. Keep an eye on him over the next few months.
