Continue ReadingWith the 2021-22 regular season having concluded, teams in Pennsylvania have entered their district and/or state playoff portion of their year. Before teams get too deep into those tournaments, it is time for a review of six Class of 2022 prospects who remain uncommitted.
Why a college program has not signed these extremely high-level players is a mystery to us.
Neel Beniwal Neel Beniwal 6'5" | SG Phelps School | 2022 State PA – 6’5” / Phelps School / Rhode Island Elite / Shooting Guard: Beniwal is arguably the top 2022 perimeter shooter in the region. He has several games of 8 or more 3PM and recently hit 10 triples in a single game. He has now made over 90 treys on the season. The long and sneaky athletic Beniwal averages 17 ppg., has posted two 30-point scoring efforts and is shooting 40% from deep on the season. In addition to shooting, he has tremendous basketball instincts, can finish in transition and his improved ability to score off the dribble is noteworthy as well.
Quin Berger Quin Berger 6'2" | CG Westtown School | 2022 State PA – 6’2’’ / Westtown School / NJ Shoreshots / Combo Guard: Berger posted an outstanding 2021-22 season and thus his recruiting stock skyrocketed. From mid-January to the end of the regular season there may not have been a 2022 guard who played at a higher level than Berger. Included in that span was a 39-point effort vs. Academy of the New Church as well as 26 points and 4 rebounds against Gill St. Bernard (NJ). Berger’s high IQ, court awareness and ability to score at all three levels will make him a terrific college player. He is a 1,000-point scorer who recently picked up an offer from NJIT. But this combo guard should be pulling in more DI offers soon.
David Kearney David Kearney 6'5" | SF Haverford School | 2022 State PA – 6’5” / Haverford School / East Coast Power / Small Forward: This long and athletic forward with a developing 3-point stroke projects as a college stretch-4. Kearney has an extensive mid-range bag of tricks and can operate in transition as a ball handler or lane filler. Kearney also will do the dirty work on the boards and at the defensive end. He averaged 16.9 points (19 ppg. in Inter-Ac play) and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 49% from the field. He scored a season high 29 (2 threes) against Episcopal Academy. Kearney is hearing from D3 school such as Lycoming, Wilkes, Widener and Elizabethtown.
Anthony McCall Anthony McCall 6'3" | CG Academy of New Church | 2022 State PA – 6’4” / Academy of the New Church / We R1 / Wing: McCall is lefty wing player that had a breakout season thanks to an improved physique and more aggressive mind set. McCall (20 ppg. & 8 rpg.) can stroke treys or absorb contact on his way to the rim for a lay-in. McCall proved he can compete against the best when he recorded as season high 27 points (6 boards as well) in a win over Pennsylvania basketball powerhouse the Perkiomen School. He also rang up 26 points (3 threes) and grabbed 6 rebounds in a close loss to nationally ranked Westtown School. Once ANC’s state tourney run is over, McCall’s breakout season should produce a slew of college offers.
Trent Middleton Jr Trent Middleton Jr 6'3" | SF Math. Civics & Sciences | 2022 State PA – 6’3” / Math, Civics & Sciences / Athletes Plus / Combo Guard: Middleton is a versatile and powerful athlete who plays bigger then listed 6’3”. He can score at all 3-levels, but the way he fearlessly attacks the rim off the dribble is special. On his way to the tin, he can absorb contact and then finish with either hand. Middleton (13 ppg. & 4 rpg.) possesses steady handles so he can operate as a primary ball handler. His polished jump shot and ability to create space for himself allow Middleton to operate as an effective shooting guard as well. His noteworthy games during the 2021-22 regular season include 25 points vs Iowa City West (IA) and 17 points (3 threes) versus nationally ranked Imhotep Charter.
Deyishon Miller Deyishon Miller 6'4" | SF West Philadelphia | 2022 State PA – 6’4” / West Philly / Philly Pride Select / Small Forward: A physical and rock-solid athlete (200+ lbs.), Miller surprises opponents with his quickness, impressive hops and ability to score off the dribble. His jump shot is extremely dependable all the way out to the arc. Miller (21 ppg.; 5.5 apg. & 8.5 rpg.) can play on the wing at a high-level, but he really excels in a unique point-forward role for the Speedboys. Miller recorded one of the most memorable triple-doubles of this season when he posted 36 points (5 threes), 14 rebounds and 10 dimes in a win over St. Joe’s Prep. With his size and lateral quickness Miller is a plus defender who can guard 2 through 5.
