Don Douglass Don Douglass 6'9" | PF Spartanburg Day | 2022 State SC – Spartanburg Day (pictured on front)
Douglass was just too much inside the paint against the smaller Dillon Christian Warriors squad. Douglass cruised to 18 points and 8 rebounds effort according to my unofficial stats. Don does a good job of keeping the ball up high and really trying to go to work inside the paint. Douglass reconfirmed to Prep Hoops that he will do a postgraduate year next season at Fork Union Military Academy. Douglass continues to keep getting better with his strong work ethic on the hardwood.
Kaden Thomas Sorensen Kaden Thomas Sorensen 6'8" | PF Palmetto Christian Academy | 2022 State SC – Palmetto Christian Academy (Mount Pleasant)
Kaden was a pleasant surprise today here for the Eagles. Thomas-Sorensen is a late bloomer on the hardwood just like Douglass. He is pretty springy-bouncy for his size and moves very well around the floor. Kaden still must get stronger and add weight down the road. Kaden played very little to hardly any Grassroots ball over the years. Kaden is outstanding in the classroom academically. He was able to finish with his left-hand on contact and showed a nice touch on the foul line.
Houston Graves Houston Graves 6'2" | SG Spartanburg Day | 2022 State SC came out on fire from behind the arc for the Spartanburg Day Griffins. This was the first time Prep Hoops had seen Graves play and sure didn’t walk away disappointed. Graves connected on 14 points while hitting nothing but the bottom of the next three pointers.
The Oakbrook Prep Knights lost a tough one today to Palmetto Christian Academy 59-57 in overtime. Head Coach Joshua Clowney has some solid pieces to build with down the road. The sophomore duo of Chris Wilkins Chris Wilkins 6'3" | SF Oakbrook Prep | 2024 State SC and Brad Caldwell Brad Caldwell 6'2" | SF Oakbrook Prep | 2024 State SC will look to make some noise in the Upstate. Wilkins really looks to bully defenders with his play. Chris is a slasher deluxe and was able to absorb contact on the way to the cup today. Wilkins led the way with 21 points today.
Caldwell finished with 19 points and did all of his damage right inside the paint. Brad was able to finish drives to the rack and seemed to do his best work in the paint area. Caldwell fouled out with 1:48 in the 4th quarter with the game tied at 48-48. Brad does a good job of rebounding the ball on both ends for his position. The Knights have some solid pieces to build with for the future in Spartanburg.
Hudson Spivey Hudson Spivey 6'4" | SF Pee Dee Academy | 2023 State SC was a man-child down on the block for the Pee Dee Academy Eagles today in victory over John Paul II. Spivey was able to score 32 points while grabbing a ton of rebounds. Spivey just thrives on contact down in the paint and can step-out and knockdown the 3-ball. Spivey and the Eagles advance to the next round behind his strong play down in the paint. Spivey plays Quarterback in the fall for the Eagles.
Greyson Singletary Greyson Singletary 6'1" | SG Dillon Christian | 2023 State SC is the senior leader despite just being a junior in the classroom for the Dillon HS Wildcats. Greyson and his Wildcats teammates ran into a buzzsaw in Spartanburg Day. Singletary a shooting guard was able to score 21 points in the losing effort. Greyson has knocked down over 125 three pointers in the past 2 seasons for the Wildcats.
