I watched both levels of ball with Junior Varsity and Varsity. Neither teams have freshman teams being such small schools.
Here were the standouts of the Varsity game:
Garrison Sherman Garrison Sherman 6'7" | SF Scottsdale Christian Academy | 2022 State AZ SCA (Pictured)
A bigger wing forward with the ability to score it from all three levels. He rises up high on his jumpers and he can rebound the ball off the backboard and push it and will usually find a teammate. Growing up playing guard has helped him as he has moved into his new height. He can flush it down on the break and is a sneaky good passer. He can hit the 3 off the catch. He can dribble drive and score and came up big down the stretch to win a tight one with 6 secs left.

Hunter Wales Hunter Wales 6'6" | PF Scottsdale Christian Academy | 2024 State AZ SCA
A face-up forward who rebounds well and plays with a motor. He has long arms to rebound and plays taller then his height suggests. He was cool, calm and collected on his FT attempts and he can score it with either hand in the paint.
Braden Wales Braden Wales 6'7" | C Scottsdale Christian Academy | 2022 State AZ SCA
The defensive enforcer of the team is clearly Braden. He rebounds in his area and will block anything near him. He holds his ground well in the paint as he is very hard to move. He can score on hook shots with either hand.
Michael Fan Michael Fan 5'10" | PG Scottsdale Christian Academy | 2023 State AZ SCA
A cerebral scoring lead guard is an elbow and in type of worker. He has a consistent mid-range jumper off the catch or pull and likes the floater game. He can make contested layups through contact and is quick on the ball to collect steals.
Sagith Vargas Sagith Vargas 5'10" | PG Rancho Solano Prep | 2024 State AZ Rancho Solano Prep
A pure point guard who is always looking up. He is extremely crafty and changes speeds well. He has a nice in and out dribble and will get into the lane to suck in the defense and thread it to a teammate.
Michael Dienes Michael Dienes 6'6" | PF Rancho Solano Prep | 2022 State AZ Rancho Prep
A face-up forward had a big night despite their loss. He showed off all his ways he can score it with 21 of the 33 total points. He can make and-1’s in traffic through contact, he can pull-up from mid-range and can hit the catch-3. He can create his own shot off the dribble and rise up or even score it on reverse layups in traffic. He had a huge rebound with 20 secs left but missed the FT which led to the SCA score with 6 seconds.
Royce Ramos Royce Ramos 6'5" | PF Rancho Solano Prep | 2023 State AZ Rancho Solano Prep
A versatile forward who is a gifted passer. He can score it from inside and out as he can hit from mid-range off the pull-up plus drive it. He looks to seek contact and will score through it. He rebounds in bunches and plays a physical brand of ball.
Here were the standouts of the Junior Varsity game:
Andrew Willis Andrew Willis 6'2" | SG Rancho Solano Prep | 2025 State AZ Rancho Solano Prep
The sniper of the JV is clearly Willis. He is a natural catch and shoot the 3pt shooter and he hit four deep ones. He has a quicker release and he can put the ball on the floor to score it. He uses the runner and he will make passes with his left or right hand.
Matthew Quinlan PG 5’8 2025 Rancho Solano Prep
A shooting lead guard has a super quick release with deep range. He is a decent ball handler and plays the game with a good IQ. He hit three 3’s and all with range. He handles pressure fairly well and makes good decisions with the ball.
Aidan Mushahwar PF 6’1 2024 Rancho Solano Prep
A long and tough power forward. He is clearly undersized but he has long wingspan to play bigger then his height may suggest. He rebounds in and out of his area and will score it in the paint.
Pearce Ramos PF 6’1 2025 Rancho Solano Prep
The younger brother of Royce is a strong undersized PF. He is fearless to handle any contact and he is a good out of area rebounder with his toughness. He scores mostly in the paint but he can pull-up off the dribble from mid-range.
