All 4 of these teams should be very proud of making it this far and now will see who moves on from here. Let’s breakdown each team and matchup:
#8 Forest Hill 20-5 vs #5 Lake Worth 19-3
Lake Worth – Lake Worth made it to this game by defeating Coral Springs 83-75 in the Quarterfinal. Lake Worth has key wins this season over Dwyer, Wellington, Coral Springs and Forest Hill. Lake Worth most recently beat Forest Hill a few weeks ago 92-77 and will look to repeat that performance later this week. Lake Worth is led by their big 3 2023 Calvin Sirmans, 2023 Marvin Golf and 2022 Chancellor Wilson Chancellor Wilson 6'6" | SF Lake Worth Community | 2022 State FL who are all averaging double figures. This team plays fast and physical and are tough to beat. They will pose a lot of matchup problems for Forest Hill and it will be interesting to see what Forest Hill will do different from the last time these 2 teams met.
Forest Hill – Forest Hill is fresh off a huge win against #1 Centennial 75-73. This was a game where they trailed by more than 15 in the 4th qtr but dug deep and pulled out a huge upset. They have had key wins this season over Pine Crest, Santaluces, and Palm beach Lakes and will look to keep their momentum going against Lake Worth. They are led by 2022 guard Mike Cooper Mike Cooper 6'2" | CG Forest Hill | 2022 State FL who averages 20 points per game and 3 rebounds. Mike can get hot in a hurry from beyond the arc and shoots 48% on 3’s. 2022 guard Brayser Martinez is another name to look for who can also get it going from downtown. Brayser is shooting 46% on 3’s this season and will be an important piece to this game. 2022 Kyron Platt is another name to watch averaging 12 points and 5 rebounds per game.
Prediction – Lake Worth 87-78
#2 Osceola 19-5 vs #3 Wellington 22-6
Osceola – got here by defeating Fort Pierce Central 67-51 and has key wins this season against Life Christian Academy, Eau Gallie, Oviedo and Windermere. The Combs brothers will be the ones to watch here 2022 Christian and 2023 Sean are a handful and can create off the dribble while scoring from all over the floor. 2022 Cory Vega will be another name to keep an eye on in this matchup.
Wellington – Wellington got here by winning their District championship in an overtime win against palm Beach Central 52-47. They have key wins this season against Lake Worth, Benjamin and Centennial. They are led by 2022 Mcdonald’s All American nominee Brenden Williams who is averaging 15 points and 4 rebounds per game. 2024 sensation Reggie Reinhardt will be another name to watch he averages 10 points per game and has been a matchup problem all year for other teams. 6’5 2023 Shawn Cineus is averaging 10 points and 6 rebounds per game and gives this team good size around the basket. The 2023 6’6 high flier Terell Edwards is another one who can get going in a hurry and can jump out the gym. Wellington defeated Osceola early this season in a tournament 70-33 and will look for a repeat performance.
Prediction – Wellington 72-48
