Though some may overlook the great state of Idaho in search of larger populations and more players to choose from, Idaho has chosen quality over quantity for the entirety of its statehood and will continue to do so when it comes to providing great basketball players for the world to find. Continue reading for a look at some of the best individual performances from recent Idaho action across the state.
Coeur d’Alene vs. Post Falls: Coeur d’Alene overcame Post Falls in their recent Inland Empire League battle as Coeur d’Alene was able to use a great team approach while Post Falls relied more on individual performances to strive for victory. Coeur d’Alene got out to a big lead and never looked back throughout the game and showed that they are one of the best teams in north Idaho and are looking to make a title run at the state tournament in March. Coeur d’Alene was led by Steven Burgess Steven Burgess 5'11" | PG Coeur d'Alene | 2023 State ID scoring 24 points. Burgess did most of his damage at the rim, drove into the lane consistently, and knocked down free throws whenever he drew contact. Burgess also got help from Cameren Cope Cameren Cope 6'4" | PF Coeur d'Alene | 2022 State ID who scored 9 points in the paint and on free throws as well. In addition, Alex Nipp got to double-digits by scoring all 10 of his points at the rim. Post Falls was led by 17 points from Neil McCarthy who shot well during the game as well as Jack Sciortino Jack Sciortino 6'1" | SG Post Falls | 2022 State ID adding 10 points along with another 10 points coming from Tyras Blake.
Mullan vs. Kootenai: Mullan ran away with a large victory over Kootenai in a North Star League game. Mullan overpowered Kootenai in all statistical categories all night long and Kootenai struggled to mount any form of a comeback. Mullan was led by Alex Trogden who scored 14 points and pulled down 8 rebounds as he bullied Kootenai in the paint all night long. Floyd Nelson Floyd Nelson 6'0" | SG Mullan | 2023 State ID added 7 points but had his best performance on the defensive end where he was able to grab 7 steals and force even more turnovers.
