Knowing he’d have a really big role as a senior, the lanky 6-foot-10 post worked hard on his body and his game before the season started and as the year has gone on, his contributions at Clackamas have become bigger and bigger. It’s not a surprise to see him put up a double-double in a game now and as college opportunities materialize, for now he’s simply taking everything all in.
“I’m a senior so this is my last high school basketball experience and I’m enjoying it,” Senatra said. “My coaches and my teammates are great – I’ve played with these guys since like fifth grade so it’s been a lot of fun to come out and play with them for this last year.”
Watching Senatra play this season, one of the main things is his level of confidence. He’ll post up strong inside and go strong to his right on the turnaround, absorbing and finishing through contact. Defensively, he’s been a shot-blocking presence with his length and he’s been getting things done on the boards.
“I’ve put on a little bit of weight and that’s helped a lot – I’ve still got to put on a lot more,” Senatra said. “I’ve also worked on my finishing inside and that’s helped out a lot.”
Senatra’s improvement to go along with his height and potential have captured the attention of college coaches at various levels. He notes that the two schools looking at him hardest right now are Linfield and Pacific Lutheran and he’s made campus visits to both. While he’s keeping everything open for now, Linfield has been the school standing out to him the most.
“I’ve talked to the coach there a lot and I’d like to go to school there if I can,” Senatra said. “I’ll decide probably sometime after the season. I’m also going to play AAU ball again (in the spring).”
College decisions will come but for now there’s still work to do for Senatra and his teammates. The Cavs are looking good to make the post-season and while they will obviously take things one game at a time, Senatra is feeling positive vibes.
“I’m really excited and I think we’ll fare pretty well,” Senatra said. “We have a lot of team chemistry as we’ve played together for a long time. I think we’ve got a good shot.”
Senetra currently ranks as the #82 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2022 rankings.
