Continue ReadingThe state tournament is right around the corner as it tips off in less than a week. Group 2 has one of the Tournament of Champions favorites in Camden, along with a bunch of other schools capable of making deep state runs. Here are the Group 2 prospects who are set to have a big state tournament.
Aaron Bradshaw Aaron Bradshaw 7'0" | PF Camden | 2023 State #10 Nation NJ , 7’0 PF Camden 2023
Classmate Dajuan Wagner Jr Dajuan Wagner Jr 6'4" | PG Camden | 2023 State #1 Nation NJ is the go-to guy on the offense for the High, but Bradshaw is the biggest mismatch on the team. The 7’0 forward runs the floor hard, setting himself up for easy dunks and baskets in transition. Bradshaw has a nice touch around the basket and is capable of putting the ball on the floor. He is a big-time shot-blocker as he uses his combination of length and athleticism to swat shots. Bradshaw is a lanky, forward prospect who should have a big impact down low for Camden.
Christian Talavera Christian Talavera 6'0" | PG Caldwell | 2022 State NJ , 6’0 PG Caldwell 2022
Talavera has been a consistent presence on the perimeter for Caldwell this season and is looking to continue his play in the state tournament. The 6’0 guard has a good release on his jumper and can knock down triples in bunches as he drilled 8 against Newark East Side in the Essex County Tournament. Talavera is more than just a shooter as he can also finish around the basket and has a nice handle. He is an underrated passer and has a good chemistry with backcourt mate Ray Zamloot. Talavera is set for a big state tournament for Caldwell as he looks to conclude his varsity career on a high note.
Ethan Sutherland Ethan Sutherland 6'1" | SG Pequannock | 2022 State NJ , 6’1 SG Pequannock 2022
Sutherland has been a key part of the Panthers’ success this season as he impacts the game in multiple ways. The Moravian commit is a good shooter from distance as he wastes little motion in his jumper and sets his feet before he shoots. Sutherland is more than just a shooter as he can get into the lane and make plays once he gets there. He gets his teammates involved in the halfcourt and gets deflections on the defensive end. Sutherland’s ability to fill up the stat sheet is something that will help his game in a big way during the state tournament.
Scott Gyimesi Scott Gyimesi 6'6" | SF Rumson Fair-Haven | 2022 State NJ , 6’6 SF/PF Rumson Fair-Haven 2022
Gyimesi has been a force for the Bulldogs as opponents have had no answer for him all season. The Tufts commit knows how to get position around the basket and is able to power up through traffic. Gyimesi has a good touch around the rim and has an underrated handle. He skies for rebounds on both ends of the floor and rarely makes poor decisions with the ball in his hands. Gyimesi is a skilled forward prospect who should have a big state tournament for Rumson Fair-Haven.
Jordan Summers Jordan Summers 6'7" | PF Bound Brook | 2023 State NJ , 6’6 PF Bound Brook 2023
Quadir Harrell Quadir Harrell 5'10" | PG Bound Brook | 2022 State NJ will be the one running the offense for the Crusaders, but Summers has been nearly unstoppable in the post. The 6’6 forward works hard on both ends of the floor and is athletic enough to finish above the rim. Summers has a nice touch around the basket and shows the ability to knock down open jumpers on the perimeter. He is tough to keep off the glass on both ends of the floor and is a solid shot-blocker. Summers is a hard-working forward prospect who should have big games for Bound Brook throughout the state tournament.

Patrick Rogers, 6’6 SF Rutherford 2022
