There was tons of talent throughout the event, featuring some of the best available players in the area. Here’s a look at part 3 of the standouts from the VA programs, looking at the standouts from Hargrave.
Keon Thompson | 6’0” PG | Hargrave 2022
Hargrave was short handed in their first game against Bull City as they played without two starters, and Thompson had to step it up and lead the way and he did so in a number of ways. The athletic guard is dynamite in transition where he can play above the rim and make plays for others, he can create and make tough shots from multiple levels and he’s a very good on ball defender who can provide pressure and turn ball handlers over. He finished with a team high 16 points in their win over Bull City.
Elijah Hulsewe | 7’0” C | Hargrave 2022
The recent Bethune-Cookman commit is still coming off an injury, but he’s starting to look more and more like himself as the 7’0” has a mix of size and unique skill set that makes him impressive in the paint. He has soft touch over the shoulders and can finish around the rim consistently, he’s an excellent passer both out of the post and on outlets and he can dominate the glass and the paint with his size. He’s a consistent and efficient scorer and playmaker for this group.
Donovahn Keyes | 6’1” CG | Hargrave 2022
Keyes was one of the players that had to step up with Hargrave being short handed, and he did so in their win over Bull City going for double digits and doing a little bit of everything to help his team. He showed he can play both guard positions, he can create shots for himself and others and has a good feel and IQ for the game. He’s a smooth guard who can impact the game across the board and took advantage of his opportunities.
Christian Moore | 6’1” CG | Hargrave 2022
Moore is sometimes the forgotten guy with how good Hargrave’s backcourt is, but he showed again that he is a big time scorer that can bring it on both ends of the floor. He’s a good on ball defender who can guard the length of the floor, he made big shots both off the ball and on the ball and showed he can create shots for himself and others and he was a great spark off the bench for them in both games. He finished with 15 points in their win over Bull City.
Leland Walker Leland Walker 5'11" | PG North Central | 2022 VA | 6’1” PG | Hargrave 2022
Walker was out for the first game against Bull City, but he came back in their game against Massanutten and had a very high level matchup against Kanye Clary Kanye Clary 5'11" | PG Massanutten | 2022 State VA . While Hargrave didn’t get the win, Walker was fantastic handling pressure, getting in the lane and creating opportunities for himself and others showing his finishing and facilitating ability. He finished with 17 points in the loss and set teammates up very well.
