Coming in at #3:
Carson Muse Carson Muse 6'6" | SG West Morgan | 2023 State AL (6’6/Shooting Guard/2023)
School: West Morgan HS

In our last rankings, Carson was sitting at #12 and now finds himself in the top 3. He has elevated his game and, in doing so, has elevated his stock. He has led his team to a #8 ranking in Class 4A. His team is currently in the field of 32 and, at the time of this article (Tuesday, Feb. 15), will be traveling to Deshler for a shot at the Sweet 16.
Carson has improved his physical play in the paint.
He is more assertive and, with his size, has become a difficult player to stop around the rim. He handles the ball ok and does so just enough to be able to create off the bounce. We will play a close watch to his development over the off-season to see if he can continue to improve his projections for the next level.
Coming in at #8:
Luke Smith Luke Smith 6'5" | SF Plainview | 2023 State AL (6’5/Small Forward/2023)
School: Plainview HS
Instagram: olukesmith14
Twitter: @lukesmith_14
Not only does Luke find himself in the rankings for the first time, but he finds himself ranked in the top 10 at #8. He has helped his team to a #2 ranking in Class 3A. At the time of this article (Tuesday, Feb. 15), Luke leads his squad in a match-up tonight against Geraldine in the round of 32. Luke has been a consistent source of production for Plainview throughout the year, and he has steadily improved his overall game and is a reason why Plainview is a favorite to win it all.
He is a versatile athlete who causes many mismatches that he knows how to exploit.
Look for Plainview to punch their ticket to the sweet 16, as Luke’s versatility and scoring prowess will be too much for Geraldine tonight.
Coming in at #9:
Camren Johnson Camren Johnson 6'5" | SF Jacksonville | 2023 State AL (6’5/Small Forward/2023)
School: Jacksonville HS
Instagram: N/A
Twitter: @CamrenTJohnson1
Camren is an explosive and athletic wing that thrives in transition. He is a monster out in the open court as he is looking to put pressure on the rim and is looking to finish above the rim. Like a couple of others, Camren is not only making his top 10 appearance in the rankings, but he is also making his rankings debut. CJ finds himself at #9 and could possibly find himself higher than that as he sets his eyes on his off-season development after what he hopes is a championship run with his crew at present. Jacksonville is a favorite to win it all, as not only are they ranked #2 in Class 4A, but they have 3 players in our 2023 rankings that are ranked in the top 10.
Camren will be a key piece for Jacksonville as they try to live up to the expectations and bring home the Championship.
At the time of this writing (Tuesday, Feb. 15), Jacksonville is facing Anniston tonight with a birth in the sweet 16 on the line.
Coming in at #10:
Terry Coner, Jr. (6’0/Combo Guard/2023)
School: Pinson Valley HS

Twitter: @terryconerjr1
When you look at the tools that Pinson Valley is putting on the court as they make a run to the Final 48, you don’t have to look any further than Terry Coner, Jr., who has been one of the most consistent sources of production for Pinson Valley. Coach Barber is one of the most well-respected coaches in the state and knows how to get the most of his players year in and year out. This year TC has been one of the most consistent players for Coach Barber and is a player that many overlook because of the firepower brought to the court by his teammates. I remember watching Pinson at #Battle205, and I witnessed TC literally carry Pinson to a victory. He is one of the most complete guards in the 2023 class, and he makes his rankings debut rounding out the top 10.
He can score at all levels and is one player that will be difficult for teams to gameplan for down the stretch.
He can play with or without the ball in his hands, and he finds ways to produce in both scenarios. He has helped Pinson to a #2 ranking in Class 6A. At the time of this writing (Tuesday, Feb. 15), Pinson will host Hartselle as they seek to punch their ticket to the sweet 16. Look for TC to have a big game tonight.
Stay tuned as we dive deeper into the updated 2023 rankings.
