In this article:
This will not include the Topeka Invitational (TIT) as we will have some other coverage on those games.
Taking a look around the state of Kansas, we are looking at some eye popping performances, not necessarily only from the top dogs in the states. Guys from all over of every grade and role have been opening eyes up to their play this week. Let’s take a look
2022’s
Kaden Harding, 6’5 F, Chaparral: Nearly averaging a double double a game with 9.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, Harding has shown this week that he is an athletic and physically imposing forward who loves to spend a lot of his time dunking the basketball. Has had numerous put back dunks this week sending the gym into a frenzy. Runs the floor and finds the ball for scoring opportunities well.
Colin McCartney, 6’2 G, Frontenac: A very smart and physical guard that has been a great back court piece to pair with the big Jordan Fudge Jordan Fudge 6'8" | PF Frontenac | 2022 State KS . Is terrific finding guys running the floor, playing off screens and hitting teammates, but last night in a big win over Ft Scott, he got the scoring going, dropping 20 points in the win.
Braxton Harrison, 6’ G, Cimarron: The football star is getting it done on the hardwood as well, including this week, where he went for 28 last night in a big win for the program. Plays all over the floor, extremely versatile, and you may not find a rebounder better at his height in the state of Kansas. Averages 13 points and 10 rebounds per game. He is very active on both ends of the floor, fun player to watch compete.
Brett Gibbs Brett Gibbs 6'5" | PF Clearwater | 2022 State KS , 6’4 F, Clearwater: Is a mobile big bodied forward who controls the painted area on both ends. Had an absolutely dominant performance yesterday scoring 32 points in only about 3 quarters of work. He has really slid footwork, finishes with either hand, and if he gets you on his hip, he is either scoring the ball or getting to the foul line, or both.
2023’s
Grant Stubblefield, 6’2 PG, Blue Valley Northwest: Has been on a mission this season to lead the way for BVNW. He has been a terror in almost every ball game, dominating in the back court. Has great size, change of pace, and skill with the ball in his hands. Exploded for a 32 point game in the Bill Hanson Invitational tournament on Thursday night. Can score it in every facet of the offensive game.
Hunter Vaughn Hunter Vaughn 5'11" | CG Colby | 2023 State KS , 6’ G, Colby: Way out in Colby, Vaughn is a guard who can flat out score the basketball and may be flying under the radar a bit. He is a tough finisher of the basketball, converting a ton of and 1 opportunities, plays off his shot fake so well, and can operate on the perimeter, in the mid post, from the foul line, and in transition. Had 32 in a game last night for Colby.
Jack Voth Jack Voth 6'6" | PF J.T. Hoggard | 2023 State NC , 6’5 W, Buhler (Pictured): Continues to pace the Buhler boys to a really solid season. Scoring 20 points in tournament action again. Finds ways to get involved on the scoring front and can mix it up, getting hot from the perimeter, mixing it up near the painted area, and playing off screens. His rebounding and playmaking picking up has really made him a true game changer.
