Desh Molton Desh Molton 6'0" | PG Gilmour | 2023 State OH , 5’10 PG Gilmour 2023: Molton earned player of the game awards for Gilmour who defeated host Euclid in a tight contest without Ryan Mueller Ryan Mueller 6'7" | PF Gilmour Academy | 2022 State OH . Molton earned his first offer to Fairmont State University after the game. Molton does a nice job of getting into the paint at his size and doesn’t turn the ball over often. At full strength, this Gilmour squad is one to watch in Division II after making a deep playoff run last season.
Khoi Thurmon Khoi Thurmon 6'1" | PG Buchtel | 2023 State OH , 6’0 PG Buchtel 2023: Thurmon had a big showing at an out of state tournament where Buchtel raised some eyebrows and represented Ohio well. Despite blowing a big lead, I was impressed with a few of Buchtel’s prospects. Thurmon was the one I picked for this article, as he did a good job controlling the pace of the game until the final minute and had a nice balance of scoring and finding his teammates. Often the defense would rush to Thurmon when he attacked, and he found wide open teammates for 3-point looks. I’ll get to see Buchtel a couple more times this season and am excited to learn more about some of their younger talent, especially in the 2024 class.
Dorian Jones, 6’4 SF Richmond Heights 2025: Jones was coming back from an injury and limited in minutes the first time I got to see him this season. In this game, Jones was unleashed and showed exactly why he’s regarded as one of the top freshmen in the state. Jones is a great athlete at the wing position as he made multiple impact plays on the defensive end. A long wingspan allows him to jump passing lanes and block shots. On the offensive end, Jones had some ups and downs which is expected of any freshman. If he continues to become more consistent with his jump-shot, it’s going to be very hard to contain him.
Jesse McCulloch Jesse McCulloch 6'9" | PF Lutheran East | 2024 State #136 Nation OH , 6’8 C Lutheran East 2024: The hype train is going through the roof with McCulloch as he’s developing into a high major level prospect right in front of our eyes. McCulloch is very skilled and improves every time I watch him. Capable of doing a lot of different things on the offensive end, McCulloch can shoot, pass and post-up. I’m sure McCulloch will see his recruitment spike playing in a major shoe circuit league this spring and summer.
