We’ll look at five players from each area and position that coaches at all levels looking for a player should keep an eye out for. Here’s five 2022 guards in the Richmond area of Virginia that need more love.
Keishawn Pulley Keishawn Pulley 6'2" | CG St. Christopher's School | 2022 State VA | 6’2” | St. Christopher’s
Pulley has steadily improved over the past few years, and he’s a very good guard that can play on and off the basketball and impact the game in a number of ways. He’s always been a good shooter from deep and now he’s grown and become a reliable ball handler and slasher who can attack and finish at the rim, he has good length and uses it defensively and to rebound and he plays with a good motor on both ends of the floor.
Reggie Robertson Reggie Robertson 5'8" | PG John Marshall | 2022 State VA | 5’8” | John Marshall
If you’re looking for a tough guard, look no further than Robertson who may not be the biggest guy but he’ll bring it against anyone and makes plays on both ends of the floor. He’s strong and quick both off the bounce and laterally defensively, he’s shifty off the bounce and can get in the lane at will and he can make shots from deep off the catch too.
Gray Proffitt Gray Proffitt 6'5" | CG Douglas Freeman | 2022 State VA | 6’5” | Douglas Freeman
Proffitt is one of the most consistent guards in the Richmond area, and he has a unique skill set at his size that makes him very tough to match up with. At 6’5” he’s crafty and skilled off the bounce with great footwork, he’s strong and can finish at and above the rim, he makes great decisions with the ball in his hands and can score from multiple levels, making him a true stat sheet stuffer.
Ty’Heim Love Ty’Heim Love 6'1" | CG Petersburg | 2022 State VA | 6’0” | Hopewell
Love is having a breakout senior season at Hopewell as the senior leader on a relatively young team, and the 6’0” combo is showing he can score it with the best of them. He’s very shifty off the bounce and is good at creating space to make shots from all over the floor off the bounce, he has a great middle game with floaters and pull-ups and when he gets it going he can hang them up in bunches against anyone.
Marcus Allen Marcus Allen 6'0" | PG LC Bird | 2022 State VA | 5’11” PG | LC Bird
Allen is perhaps the best back up guard in the state, as he comes off the bench and almost every time he comes in he provides a spark or settles down the group when opponents are going on a run against them. He’s a very reliable ball handler and playmaker when he’s working off the bounce, he can make shots from all three levels consistently and he’s a very good defender with good instincts on and off the ball.
