SG/PG 6’1 Sparkman 2022
Price is a true combo guard who possesses an uncanny ability to create for others from the off-guard position. As a secondary ballhandler is excellent at finding the open man after breaking the defense or running the break. As a scorer, Price is efficient and takes solid shots that come out of the offense. He can catch and shoot efficiently, make timely cuts, or knock down the pull-up jumper when he finds his rhythm. Price’s value lies in his versatility and fluidity between the guard positions. He’s a player that could flourish in any system due to his adaptability and broad skill set.
Javion Mccrary 6’3 Pickens County 2022
Mccrary is a strong off-guard who can contribute buckets in a complementary role. He showed an ability to create opportunities for himself when facing mismatches, find shots within the flow of the offense, and make difficult layups around the basket. He does a great job of creating as a secondary ballhandler and can put pressure on the defense with his rim attacks resulting in kick-outs to teammates. He is also a solid rebounder for his size on both the offensive and defensive glass.
Tyler Thomas 6’6 PF/C Cottage Hill 2022
Thomas is an excellent passer for his position and was one of the top passers I observed in the tournament. His ability to find cutters out of the post and elbow generated great looks for the offense. He also showed an ability to make passes off the bounce, which is uncommon for his position and size at this level. He passes with anticipation and accuracy and is a player an offense can be run through from a playmaking perspective. Thomas is also a great rebounder who understand position, boxing out, and getting the ball at its apex when it bounces off the rim. He scores with effectiveness in the post, and is an opportunistic forward who feast off of effort buckets.
Jamarion Ryans Jamarion Ryans 5'11" | NA lbs | PG Hale County | 2022 State #NA Nation AL 5’10 PG Hale County 2022
Ryans is a speedy shot creator who has the heart of a lion. Despite being undersized, he puts constant pressure on the rim and knows how to finish over bigs efficiently. He’s dominant in transition and plays like a running back, constantly finding holes in the defense and accelerating when he sees an opportunity. In addition, Ryans showed a natural feel for the game when he casually dropped dimes and created open looks off of penetration and paint touches.
Tyrien Smith 5’9 PG Sipsey Valley 2022
Smith is a score-first point guard who creates shots for himself at a high level. His shiftiness and quick-twitch allow him to create havoc off the dribble. He has excellent touch on his mid-range jumper and is sufficient as a stationary shooter from deep. His ability to play at different tempos and manipulate defenders always allows him to create if the offense breaks down. He does a fantastic job of playing along with Martivious Russell as the 2nd option in the offense. He’s everything you could want as a second scorer. He’s confident and aware when he needs to turn it up, or the defensive is paying too much attention to Russell. He also allows the game to come to him and takes what the defense gives.
