There were 8 scheduled games featuring teams from different areas Nor Cal and one team from SoCal that made the trip north. Each game had a player who was named MOP of the game. In this article PH will give you the MOP from the winning team. PH observed 7/8 games. We didn’t see game 1 of this event.
Game 2: El Camino 58 Monterey Trail 57
Kiku Parker Kiku Parker 5'10" | PG Grant Union | 2023 State CA-N 5’10 2023 PG of El Camino
Parker put together a solid performance in a close contest that had multiple lead changes. He’s calm, and showed good patience as he asserts himself on offense. He has a gliding style, with good body control as he makes his way into the paint. He’s a PG but recognizes when to shift into scoring mode. 16pts, 8 rebs.
Game 3: Liberty 64 Davis 51
Julian Costa 6’1 2023 SG of Liberty
It was our first look at Costa. He’s a fast moving guard, but shows good patience running plays and passing in the half court. He splits defenders with his handles, he moves and cuts without the ball. He plays solid team defense trapping, and helping in open court. He’s a scoring threat with a 3pt shot that goes down. 23pts, 7/14 shooting.
Game 4:Shadow Hills 64, Del Campo 49
Chris Carter 6’5 2022 SF of shadow Hills.
Carter was one of the high flyers at this event, along with his athleticism on the court he threw down 6 dunks, shot the 3 ball pretty well and continued to show his leaping ability going after rebounds. He was the games leading scorer with 22pts, on 8/11 from the field, 6rebs. He runs the court.
Game 5: Whitney 72 Edison 70
Matt Schroeder 6’2 2023 SG of Whitney
Schroeder, a hard playing guard who plays on both ends of the court. He’s strong and move well laterally staying close and making you work for points. He can run point at times, but plays well off the ball being aggressive on the perimeter. He’ll knock down long 3’s when open, and do some creating from the perimeter. 22pts, he shot 8/17, with 6 rebounds.
Game 6: Folsom 69 Sacramento High 51
Brycen Shackelford Brycen Shackelford 6'5" | SF Folsom | 2022 State CA-N 6’6 2022 W/F of Folsom
Shackelford has improved his overall game. He showed good lift going for rebounds and dunks. He gets out in transition filling lanes when he’s not crashing boards for rebound. He’s getting the 12 to 15 footer to down with some consistency. 16pts on 7/10 shooting, 6 rebounds in about 3 qtrs. He leads this team in scoring and rebounds.
Game 7: Capital Christian 55 Jesuit 49
Kanye Clarke 6’0 2023 PG of Capital Christian
Clark was one of the newcomers that got our attention. He’s a speedy guard with handles, and quickness. He repeatedly blew by his defender going to his left and finishing close to the rim. During one stretch he had 2 consecutive and one’s in the 4qtr to help preserve victory. Standing 6’0 Clarke showed good lift going up high to get tips, and nab a few rebounds. 17pts on 6/9 shooting with 7 rebounds.
Game 8:Sheldon 73 Pleasant Valley 53
Rashaud Bradley Rashaud Bradley 6'5" | SF Sheldon | 2022 State CA-N 6’4 2022 W/F of Sheldon
Bradley one of the top unsigned NorCal Seniors in the 2022 class. He had his all around game working and was dominate working in and around the basket this game. His versatile play comes in when he’s on the perimeter handling, passing and slashing to the basket. He can guard multiple positions. 18pts, 6/7 shooting, 9rebs, 5assts, 3stls.
