Bluffton HS vs Lucy Beckham HS

The Bluffton HS Bobcats made the trip over to Mount Pleasant to take the Lucy Beckham HS Bengals the other evening. This region matchup wasn’t much of a contest for the home team Bengals. The Bengals cruised in this game 72-48 to move to (13-4) on the season. 

Let it Fly 

According to my stats tonight the Bengals finished with 10 three pointers in the game. Noah Bailes Noah Bailes 6'3" | SG Lucy Beckham | 2023 State SC had the hot hand tonight connecting on 5 three pointers. Bailes shows to be a deceptive athlete and a willingness to rebound from his position well. Noah finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Bailes is shooting over 40% this season from downtown. 

Rowan Irelan Rowan Irelan 6'3" | SG Lucy Beckham | 2023 State SC dropped in 15 points while connecting on 4 three pointers. Irelan has a nice quick shot release to make shots from the perimeter. Rowan never looked to force any shots and really had good shot selection. 

Bobcats Bright Spot 

Jaylin Linder Jaylin Linder 6'5" | SF Bluffton | 2023 State SC did the best he could for the Bobcats tonight with not much of a supporting cast. Linder a wide receiver in the fall on the football team finished with 25 points this evening. Jaylin did a lot of his work and damage close to the cup. He did step-out and knockdown a few three pointers this evening. 

Freshman Post 

Harper Stephens Harper Stephens 6'4" | PF Lucy Beckham | 2025 State SC patrols the paint for the Bengals down low. Stephens is just a freshman on the Bengals roster. Harper didn’t score the ball tonight according to my stats but did chip in with 6 rebounds. Stephens will look to use either hand around the cup and really does a good job of hitting the glass on both ends of the floor. 

Well Balanced

Malin Allard Malin Allard 6'3" | SG Lucy Beckham | 2023 State SC is just another piece of the puzzle to the Bengals roster for Head Coach Andrew Glover. Allard a wing player brings more of a slashing type of style game to the forefront. Malin finished with 10 points in the win. 

Going into the game with the Bobcats the Bengals had 4 players averaging in double digits. Allard 11.3 ppg, Bailes 10.8 ppg, Irelan 10.3 and Thomas Oppold Thomas Oppold 6'3" | SG Lucy Beckham | 2023 State SC 10.2 ppg.  Oppold didn’t play this evening as he was out with an injury. 

Moving Forward 

Can the Bengals make some noise when the Class 4A playoffs start this coming February? Certainly YES. The Bengals as a team shoot the ball very well, make free throws, play together and play very UNSELFISH basketball. Lucy Beckham HS is currently in just its 2nd year of existence after opening its doors during a Pandemic back in August 2020.
