Week 2: The Stock Risers from Class A
In this article:
This week stock risers come in all ages and sizes. We had a few players help lead their team to no-less weeks and a few others who gave it all they could but couldn’t get the dubs, nevertheless they were still able to raise their stocks.
Kyle Ingwerson Kyle Ingwerson 6'6" | SF Papillion-LaVista | 2022 State NE | 6’6 SF | Papillion-LaVista/OSA 17U 3SSB
The Sioux Falls commit didn’t have a good week far as team-wise but individually he gave a lot of effort on the court. Playing both teams that made it to the championship last year back to back would be tough for any team. Against Bellevue West, he was able to put in 19 points in a loss, and in lost versus Millard North, the senior was able to pile on 26 points hitting 4 out of 8 threes. Ingwerson and the Monarchs did bounce back with a win against Fremont where Kyle had 26 points again but this time 5 for 5 from the 3 point line with 2 blocks and 2 steals to add to the stat sheet. The Monarch’s next opponent is Northwest Huskies who is not having a good start to the season so far so look for another big performance out of Ingwerson follow by a win.
Rickey Loftin Rickey Loftin 6'0" | SG Westside | 2024 State NE | 6’0 PG | Omaha South/OSA 3SSB 15U
Only a Sophomore but already proving he can ball. The number 3 point guard tried to make a case for the number 1 spot over the week. Playing Pius his 3rd game into the season Loftin erupts for 17 points. Hitting just one 3 he really hung his hat on doing everything not just scoring. 8 assists with no turnovers can attest to that as he was able to find his teammates in the right position while taking care of the ball. He also had 5 rebounds with 4 steals as he led his team to the win. The next game against Lincoln- Southwest was not the same results as they could not pull out the W. The sophomore was able to put up some nice numbers and raise his stock as he dropped 25 points while shooting 65% from the field. 5 rebounds again and 3 steals went along his stats but 7 turnovers tell that the sophomore has some more learning to do. His upside is there and expects him to pour in more numbers as the season goes on. In the next game, the Packers are playing Millard North which is undefeated at this moment in the season, Rickey will have a good welcome to varsity facing these kids.
Luke Jungers Luke Jungers 6'9" | PF Omaha Creighton Prep | 2022 State NE |6’9 PF| Omaha Creighton Prep/KC Run GMC 17U UAA
I wrote about Luke in a previous article for upcoming underclassmen and so far he hasn’t disappointed. He and the Junior Jays are off to a great start so far going 4-0 with some key wins. In the last two this week Luke has been a key player for the Junior Jays victories. In the win over the Huskies, he dropped in 16 points on 78% shooting. Wasn’t much need as Creighton Prep is a better team. The next game was a close game against a better opponent, Millard West. Luke was able to score 21 points on 4/8 from the arc with 2 rebounds and 2 blocks. The next game is against Gretna a game that should be able to win look forward to it.
Carter Tempelmeyer Carter Tempelmeyer 6'0" | SG Lincoln East | 2023 State NE |6’0 SG | Lincoln East/OSA 16U National Padilla
Carter is a guard that has been finding his way this start of the season. The junior is averaging 17 points this season which is a big bump up from last year as a sophomore, which means the game is slowing down and he’s getting to his spot. Carter and the Spartans are 3-1 this season so far coming off a pair of wins this past week against some okay opponents. With a win of Kerney, he was able to pour in 16 points shooting 100% from the free-throw line, along with 3 rebounds and 2 blocks. The next game was against Gretna where he was able to score 18 points with 5 rebounds 4 steals and 2 assists. Carter and Spartans are playing good basketball to the start of the season, but the next game will be challenging for them as they face Millard North the defending champs who are also playing excellent ball at the moment.
Tate Odvody Tate Odvody 6'4" | SF Omaha Westside | 2023 State NE |6’4 SF| Omaha Westside/ OSA 3SSB 16U
Got a chance to watch firsthand Tate tear up in a game against Omaha North this past week. Although he’s already the number 1 rank junior in the state he can still move up in national rank as he at the moment is #170 in the country. He made a case to move up in the ranks after the last couple of games he has had. With a win over Omaha North, Tate was able to drop 20 points along with a big 12 rebounds. As I watch the game I saw a kid that was already finding his groove and getting to whatever shot or space he wants, it’s more of a mental game for him now. The next game was against Norfolk where he had an even better shooting performance scoring 18 points and a hundred percent from the field. Also had 2 rebounds and 3 assist with 1 steal. The junior does whatever is needed on a nightly basis and in the next game against Omaha Benson, I expect nothing different.
