PH NorCal had the rare opportunity to see two games on a wet rainy Tuesday night in the East Bay. Amador Valley 6-2 took on Acalanes 3-3 in a 5:pm start. Oakland High 10-0 traveled to San Ramon Valley 6-2 for a 7:pm start time. In both games we saw standout players on this rainy night in NorCal. Amador Valley won game one. 41-31. San Ramon Valley held off Oakland 61-54. Standouts for both games.

Tyler Chang 5’8 PG 2023 of Amador Valley

He had the hot hand early to keep his team in it. He’s a crafty ball handler who can break down his defender and get to the basket finishing with floaters, and paint jumpers. He’s quick, good on the ball, and knocks down open 3-Ptrs. He had three 3’s and 17pts

Colton Cash 6’1 SG 2023 of Amador Valley.

Cash got off to slow a start, but things heated up quickly as he found his rhythm in the 2nd quarter. He came off screens with good form, all squared up knocking down shots that put his team in front to stay. He had 15pts in the 2nd half. The ball was in his hands down the stretch. He went 4/4 from the line to finish the game with 17pts.

[player_tooltip player_id="1253118" first="Theo" last="Stoll"] 5’6 PG 2023 of Acalanes.

The pass first point guard had his skills on display. The high IQ guard does an excellent job of probing and finding open teammates in half court and transition. He uses the pick and roll, and feeds the post as well as any player we’ve seen this season. He has a floater and will hit the 3 on occasion. 7pts.

[player_tooltip player_id="1115058" first="Jake" last="Davis"] 6’6 F/C 2023 of Acalanes.

Davis has good fundamentals in and around the basket. He makes himself a big target in the post. He has an improved mid-post game that saw him face up and hit the short jumper. He’s active going after blocks and changing shots. He has good vision and awareness on the court. 10pts, 10rebs, 2blks.

Mason Thomas 5’10 PG 2025 of San Ramon Valley.

An impressive showing from the Freshman who calmly stepped up and knocked down 4/6 pressure free throws with less than a minute to play. He handles ball pressure, gets the team in half court sets. He can get into the paint for kick-outs, and he can knock down his jumper. He was the games leading score with 18pts. He’s on the Wright’s Watch List.

William Ambridge 6’5 F 2024 of San Ramon Valley.

A versatile type player who’s active around the post. He’s long, and aggressive going after rebounds, patient making his moves in the paint. He’s a good passer from the low block, and he uses the baseline to attack the basket. 7/7 at the line,13pts.

Te’shawn Gamble 5’10 PG 2023 of Oakland High.

Oakland is known for producing guards that can ball. Gamble a confident guard with handles, a first step to get to the basket from different angles, finish strong off two feet, or one with several ways to get his shot off including reverses. It’s hard keeping him out of the paint. Quick hands, a good on ball defender. 13pts. He’s on the Wright’s Watch List.

Money Williams 6’3 G/F 2023 of Oakland High.

The versatile Williams spent the early part of the game working the post area where he danced along the base line getting his shots up. Soon it became clear he can operate on the perimeter, handle in the open court, and get to the basket as well as any player on the court. He’ll help on the boards. He can hit the jumper. 15pts.
