The season is roaring into the winter break weeks and this has been a fun start to the year for Kansas High School basketball. Let’s do our recap of December 14th in Kansas.
Stat Line of the Night
Jimmy Dorsey Jimmy Dorsey 6'6" | SG Wellsville | 2022 State KS , 6’5 G, Wellsville, 2022: Had an eye popping stat line on the night, the Wellsville guard had 38 points and 21 rebounds, putting his entire footprint on the game last night. Was also living in the passing lanes and stripping the basketball, turning defense into transition offense consistently throughout. Made plays from all three levels and had a big time fast break dunk.
Elsewhere in Kansas
Cooper Autry Cooper Autry 6'3" | SG Holcomb | 2022 State KS , 6’4 G, Holcomb, 2022: After a quiet spring/summer, Autry has come back strong on the high school scene this year putting up some big numbers scoring and rebounding the basketball. Last night he had 20 points in a win over Colby including going 3 of 5 from the 3 point line. Autry grabbed 4 rebounds in the game a little lower than his average but the team and Autry played at a pretty efficient level.
Jayson Luse Jayson Luse 6'4" | SF Olathe West | 2022 State KS , 6’5 W, Olathe West, 2022: In a solid win over Shawnee Mission West, Luse played really well and his athleticism was big time getting to the basket and effecting the game on both ends of the floor. He finished with 17 points in the 24 point win for them. Luse has played at a really high level this season against some quality opponents.
Ryan Robertson Ryan Robertson 6'5" | SF Blue Valley Northwest | 2023 KS , 6’5 W, Blue Valley Northwest, 2023 (Pictured): The loaded BVNW squad has played extremely well out of the gates and has been very balanced in their attack and Roberson has filled a great role playing versatile minutes. Last night he had his first breakout performance on the year scoring 14 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. The wing player can do a little bit of everything on the floor and is really talented and is unselfish in doing things for the greater cause for a basketball team with big goals this year.
Brady Klotz Brady Klotz 6'4" | SF Royal Valley | 2022 State KS , 6’5 F, Royal Valley, 2022: Absolutely went off in Royal Valley’s win over Perry, scoring at a very efficient level and getting it done from all over the floor. He had 36 points in the ball game and paced Royal Valley along the way. The inside/out forward did just that on the night, scoring the basketball in a variety of ways.
Council Grove Duo Have Big Games
Koen Hula Koen Hula 6'4" | PF Council Grove | 2022 State KS , 6’4 F, 2022: Had a double double and has filled up the stat sheet this season for Council Grove. The big man had 15 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocked shots last night.
Kellen Marshall, 5’11 PG, 2022: The point guard looks in form and really shooting the ball well from the perimeter. Last night he had another 20 point outing and added 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. He is having himself a solid year at the PG spot.
