The atmosphere was great, there were tons of known talented players and other under the radar guys and it was an excellent week of basketball.
We take a look at part one of some of the underclass standouts.
If you’d like to watch the Southeast Invitational you can check it out on the CBG Live Network.
Josh Bullock | 6’0” PG | Lake Norman Christian 2023
Bullock is the guy for this Lake Norman team that makes them go, as he is a very talented and cerebral guard that knows how to run a team and picks his spots to score it and make plays for others. He has great feel for the game and good vision as a playmaker, he can really make shots from deep and in the midrange both off the catch and off the bounce and he has a smoothness to his game where he makes it look very easy.
Asa White Asa White 6'8" | PF Combine Academy | 2023 State NC | 6’9” PF | NC GBB National 2023
White is a very intriguing big man prospect in the state of North Carolina with his mix of size, athleticism and the high motor that he plays with on both ends of the floor. He runs the floor hard and has good hands to catch and finish, he moves his feet well on the defensive end and he’s a good shot blocker and he can rebound on both ends of the floor well.
Jalik Nichols | 6’5” WG | NC GBB National 2023
It was my first time getting to watch Nichols play with this GBB team and I came away thoroughly impressed with his size and ability to score the basketball in a number of different ways. He has a strong frame and plays physical on both ends of the floor, he can really shoot the basketball off the catch and one or two dribbles and he simply knows how to play and put the ball in the basket.
Nigel Okwakol | 6’5” WF | NC GBB Varsity 2023
Okwakol was one of the more consistent guys on the GBB Varsity team, and he shows a lot of promise moving forward with his blend of size, skill and athleticism. He’s a two way impact guy who plays with a great motor on both ends of the floor, he showed he can stick it from deep and slash and get to the rim and he never stopped playing hard when he was on the floor.
William Bostic | 6’5” F | NC GBB Varsity 2023
Bostic was a huge spark off the bench for GBB, as he brought good energy and was always around the ball and always making plays. He’s a strong and athletic forward who hits the glass well on both ends of the floor and gets a lot of second chance opportunities, he gets after it on the defensive end and makes the hustle plays and he’s able to score it in a number of different ways.
John Baldwin John Baldwin 6'11" | C Northwood Temple | 2023 State NC | 6’11” C | Northwood Temple 2023
There’s a lot of intrigue in Baldwin who is a massive big man who owns the paint and has a lot of room to develop and continue to get better moving forward. The 6’11” big is a paint clogger who can alter shots without fouling, he moves surprisingly well and is quick off his feet and can play above the rim and he has good touch out to the three-point line and shot his free throws well for his group.
Cannon Keziah Cannon Keziah 6'1" | CG Northwood Temple Academy | 2023 State NC | 6’3” WG | Northwood Temple 2023
Keziah was fantastic for Northwood Temple as their best shot maker and he was huge in their two wins over the weekend against some good teams. He’s a very smart player who has good instincts on both ends of the floor, he’s a confident and knock down shooter from deep with deep range and good consistency and he does a great job attacking closeouts and making plays for himself and others.
