Nasir Coleman | 5’11” PG | Patriot 2023
Coleman stepped up big for Patriot in their matchup against Church Hill Academy, as the 5’11” junior did a little bit of everything to help his team on both ends. He was phenomenal on the ball as he showed good quickness and got in the lane at will, he showed good touch in the midrange and he made good reads in the paint and he set the tone defensively too. He finished with a team high 19 points and chipped in 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the win.
Mike Ackerman | 5’10” WG | Patriot 2022
With most of Patriot’s top players struggling in this one, they needed some help from their bench and Ackerman stepped up big time in the second half making timely shots and playing good defense. He went on a 10-0 run by himself, hitting three three-pointers and converting one of them into a 4 point play, and his energy and shot making changed the game and helped them pull away. He finished with 15 points on 4-for-8 shooting from deep off the bench.
Dezmond Hopkins | 5’11” CG | Patriot 2024
Another bench player who stepped up big for Patriot was Hopkins, as the sophomore guard showed a lot of tools to be excited about moving forward. He’s extremely smooth as he can get to spots off the bounce and makes the game look easy, he can knock down shots from deep and multiple levels and brings good energy on both ends of the floor. He scored 10 points in the first half and was perfect from the field in that half, and finished with 14 off the bench for them.
Tim Uzochukwis | 6’8” C | Matoaca 2023
Uzochukwis is a raw prospect with good size that played extremely hard for the Warriors in their loss to Henrico, but it makes sense that he’s raw when I found out this is his first season playing basketball at all. He runs the floor hard and flies all around on both ends, he rebounds at a good rate and pursues the basketball and as he gets more reps and learns the game he’ll only get better. He finished with 9 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
Dillon Newton Short | 5’10” WG | Matoaca 2025
Short is a young prospect to keep an eye on as he showed some flashes in their game against Henrico, showing that he could be a talented scorer moving forward. He has a quick trigger and good form from deep, he can play on or off the basketball and he has good confidence in his ability to score it. He finished with 11 points and could be one to keep an eye on moving forward.
James Patterson James Patterson 6'5" | SG Carmel School | 2022 State VA | 6’4” WF | Church Hill Academy 2022
Patterson had one of the most eye popping stat lines, as the available wing did a little bit of everything on both ends of the floor to help his team despite them losing to Patriot. A strong and athletic wing with a great scoring package, Patterson showed his ability to score it from all over the floor while also making a big impact on the boards and on the defensive end too. He went for 33 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in the loss.
Wendell Tomlin Wendell Tomlin 6'6" | PF Church Hill Academy | 2022 State VA | 6’6” PF | Church Hill Academy 2022
Tomlin is one of the most intriguing available forwards in the Richmond area, as he has so much that he can do and is very versatile. He can play on the perimeter with good ball skills and the ability to defend wings and guards, he rebounds and protects the rim like a big man and all of that makes him a walking mismatch. While he struggled shooting a little bit he finished with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks in the loss.
