This is a matchup that has been dominated by Greensburg over the last couple of years. Greensburg had won four in a row and five of the last six against the Panthers coming in.
It was a battle for the first quarter of the game with neither team able to get much going over the first half of the first quarter. However, Colin Comer Colin Comer 6'4" | SG Greensburg | 2022 State IN got hot, hitting three quick jumpers, and the Panthers were able to start controlling the paint with buckets by Justin Ramey and Jacob Vogel inside. The Panthers would take a 14-12 lead.
In the second quarter, Greensburg started quickly with a three by Ki Dyer Ki Dyer 6'1" | SG Greensburg | 2023 State IN and a bucket by Comer. However, that would be all for a while for the Pirates. The Pirates would hit five threes over the rest of the quarter, with the load being shared fairly equally. Keegan Manowitz Keegan Manowitz 5'10" | PG Jennings County | 2023 State IN was controlling the offense for the Panthers, and he was able to get his teammates open shots all quarter. The Panthers would go on a 28-3 run to take a 42-20 lead early in the second half.
Greensburg attempted to make a comeback, but the lead was too much to overcome, and Jennings County would cruise to an easy 64-42 road victory in a very tough place to play. Greensburg was 32-2 on their home floor in the last three seasons. Carson McNulty Carson McNulty 6'0" | PG Jennings County | 2022 IN would lead the way in the scoring column for Jennings County with 16. Keegan Manowitz Keegan Manowitz 5'10" | PG Jennings County | 2023 State IN led the offense with 9 points and a school-record, 15 assists in the win. Jacob Vogel added 12, and Owen Law added 10. For Greensburg, Colin Comer Colin Comer 6'4" | SG Greensburg | 2022 State IN and Ki Dyer Ki Dyer 6'1" | SG Greensburg | 2023 State IN led the way with 14 points. Addison Barnes-Pettit Addison Barnes-Pettit 6'4" | SF Greensburg | 2024 State IN added 7 in the loss.
Player Evaluations
Addison Barnes-Pettit Addison Barnes-Pettit 6'4" | SF Greensburg | 2024 State IN – Greensburg – 6’4″ 2024 SF – Barnes-Pettit is a physical big down low, and he showed off some nice finishes through contact inside. He also played good physical defense on the bigger size of Jennings County. He is only a sophomore, and it showed with some of the mistakes, but he definitely has potential. I would like to see him work on his outside shot more as his shooting stroke just seems a little off right now, but the addition of this to his game would really him a new dynamic.
Colin Comer Colin Comer 6'4" | SG Greensburg | 2022 State IN – Greensburg – 6’3″ 2022 SG – Comer is a very nice guard who can knock down the mid-range with the best of them. He loves to come off screens, and he has a quick release as soon as he gets his feet set. He also has a nice feel for the game, and he is able to back down bigger players inside and showcase his scoring moves. He does look to go right nearly every time down low, but he can score both ways. Comer currently has an NAIA offer from IU-East and a Division 2 offer from Fairmont State.
Ki Dyer Ki Dyer 6'1" | SG Greensburg | 2023 State IN – Greensburg – 6’1″ 2023 SG – Dyer is a catch-and-shoot guard who seems to shoot the ball lights out from the outside. He is very good on the catch and shoot, and he also put the ball on the floor and hit a nice mid-range jumper. Dyer can be turnover-prone at times when he gets sped up, but he is strong in the lane. Dyer is a nice second-option for the Pirates this year, and he should be the main guy next year when Comer leaves.
Keegan Manowitz Keegan Manowitz 5'10" | PG Jennings County | 2023 State IN – Jennings County – 5’10″ 2023 PG – Manowitz is a smaller guard, but his court vision and passing ability were put on full display in this one. Manowitz seemed to be able to get into open spaces and collapse the defense to get his teammates open looks all game. He would end with a school-record 15 assists in the win. Manowitz should be a player that D3 coaches keep an eye on because with his work ethic and composure with the ball, he has a chance to be really good at that level.
Carson McNulty Carson McNulty 6'0" | PG Jennings County | 2022 IN – Jennings County – 6’0″ 2022 PG – McNulty is a very impressive scorer who is in range the second that the bus pulls into the parking lot. To start the huge run for Jennings County, McNulty pulled up from the volleyball line on back-to-back possessions to drain threes. He is a hard worker, and he isn’t afraid to put his body on the floor. Carson will be playing baseball at Indiana Tech next season, but he has a chance to lead Jennings County to some big things this season.
