Continue ReadingI headed over to Fort Lauderdale for a good matchup between Boca Raton (3-3) and Cardinal Gibbons (5-0). The Chiefs held a 13-point halftime advantage before Boca Raton battled back to take the lead late in the fourth quarter. The Bobcats played well in the second half and took advantage of some Chiefs turnovers. Cardinal Gibbons would hang on to win in overtime, 61-56. (see below)
Let’s look into some standouts…
Macius Trowe – Boca Raton
2022 Macius Trowe is a sleeper prospect in South Florida. The 6-foot-7 forward has a ton of length to be effective on both ends of the floor. Trowe finished with 20 points and blocked a pair of shots. He is also a good free-throw shooter (86 percent). I thought Trowe did a nice job putting the ball on the floor and attacking the rim. He used his long arms and athleticism to either finish or get to the free-throw line. I believe he is originally from Germany. Trowe has a ton of potential with more game experience. Per information, he is averaging 16.4 points and 8.8 rebounds while shooting 47 percent from the floor per contest.
Daniel Jordan – Cardinal Gibbons
2022 Daniel Jordan hit a game-tying 3-pointer late in the fourth quarter when it appeared the Chiefs were going to blow the game. The 5-foot-8 guard played like a senior in the clutch. Jordan has a strong handle and iced the game in overtime with free-throws. He has plenty of athleticism as a multi-level scorer and defender. In addition, his motor and hustle is evident on the defensive end. Jordan might very well be the heart of the Chiefs.
Jayden Owens – Cardinal Gibbons
A big key to Cardinal Gibbons’ halftime lead was the play of Jayden Owens. The 5-foot-10 shooting guard knocked down five 3-pointers in the first half to finish with 15 points. Owens can put the ball on the floor and create his own shot. He has a ton of range and needs to be spied on the perimeter. Watch out for 6-foot-8 forward Johnny Papadakos as well. He has some size and potential with more consistency.
Lavar Jamison – Boca Raton
2024 Lavar Jamison played well down the stretch for the Bobcats. I thought his shooting elevated Boca Raton to its late lead. One of those buckets was a big 3-pointer. He is an athletic guard with more scoring potential. The 6-foot-1 Jamison is averaging eight points per game.
