Friday Night’s Scoring Outbursts
Carson Gilbert Carson Gilbert 6'1" | SG Hiawatha | 2022 KS , 6’1 G, Hiawatha, 2022: Put it on Jeff West last night as Gilbert continues to have a great start to his senior campaign. Gilbert dropped 34 points on the night and got it done in every aspect, knocking down the three ball, converting steals into points, and driving to the bucket and converting.
Elijah Brooks Elijah Brooks 6'3" | CG Topeka West | 2022 State KS , 6’4 W, Topeka West, 2022: Brooks has been really dominant to start the year and the Centennial League player of the year race is going to be fascinating to watch this year between all of the major talent in the league. Brooks made his early case last night dropping 29 points in a win over Topeka High. Brooks as the spearhead of the West defense is lethal as his length causes a ton of turnovers and his athleticism allows him to be dominant in transition highlighted by his back to back fast break flushes to close the door on Topeka High.
Ketraleus Aldridge Ketraleus Aldridge 6'4" | SF Highland Park | 2023 State KS , 6’4 W, Highland Park, 2023: Much like the previously mentioned Brooks, Aldridge has been on a tear to start play this season, as those two and Howard Johnson Howard Johnson 6'0" | SG Junction City | 2022 State KS of Junction City are currently battling it out for the scoring title in the league. Aldridge scored at all three levels in a nice win over Washburn Rural last night dropping 29 in the win including some timely made threes and big time momentum swinging dunks to pull the Scotts out ahead.
Keller Hurla Keller Hurla 6'0" | CG St. Marys | 2023 State KS , 6’ G, St Mary’s, 2023: In a blowout win of Mission Valley, Hurla set the tone early dominating from the tip scoring 16 of St Mary’s first 20 points and finishing with a game high 32 points. Hurla’s game continues to expand into the playmaking area as well as he also dished 7 assists on the night.
Stat Sheet Fillers From Friday
Fred Criqui Fred Criqui 6'7" | C St. Marys | 2022 State KS , 6’7 F, St Mary’s, 2022: The big man made his mark on this game dominating the painted area with 16 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and blocked 5 shots. Caught a nice lob for a dunk and had another tough finish as well. Criqui found a lot of space against the zone and operated well in the gaps and finished at a high level. He also showcased his rim protection that is a massive piece to his game.
Brax Fisher, 5’10 PG, Abilene, 2024: The young point guard got it done last night scoring 7 points, grabbing 3 rebounds, handing out 2 assists, 2 steals, and a block. Fisher is rounding out to be a solid complete point guard and still has a ton of time to develop. He is off to a really nice start to his sophomore season.
Kellan Boylan, 6’7 F, Bishop Miege, 2022: Boylan also got on our double double alert as he finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds for Bishop Miege as they picked up a really nice win over Helias. The athletic forward finished 7 of 13 from the field and did a lot of damage in and around the painted area. Boylan is also a solid defender from the forward spot and had 4 steals on the night.
Aidan Wing Aidan Wing 6'4" | SF Bishop Miege | 2023 State KS , 6’4 G, Bishop Miege, 2023: Wing showed flashes last year on the loaded roster they had at Miege, but now with much more of the responsibility this season, Wing showed why he is one of our higher ranked prospects in the 2023 class. He went 6 of 8 from the field in the win and 1-1 from the 3 point line and finished with 17 points, grabbed 2 boards, and snagged a steal. His length, skill with the ball, and basketball savvy makes him a tough guard.
