Continue ReadingThe Gem State has officially begun basketball season and the first couple of games throughout the state for each team have proven to be resulting in high levels of competition. The snow is falling, roads are freezing, the Californians are still figuring out how they should be driving their two-wheel drive electric cars in the snow, and all is well across the state. As basketball season continues to ramp up, a lot of high quality games have been played recently all over the state while also featuring a lot of different conferences and divisions as well. Continue reading for a look at some of the recent microupdates from across the glorious state of Idaho.
Hillcrest vs. Thunder Ridge: On the east side of the state, Hillcrest recently secured a victory over Thunder Ridge in a solid battle. Hillcrest was led by a stellar shooting performance from Cooper Kesler Cooper Kesler 6'2" | SG Hillcrest | 2022 State ID which resulted in 17 points. Cooper showed that he still has a lot of range on his jump shot and is definitely in the running for being one of the best shooters in the entire state. Isaac Davis added 14 points for Hillcrest to round out double-digit scorers. On the other side of the ball, Thunder Ridge led a balanced attack which featured their 3 leading scorers, Tao Johnson, Zach Freed, and Conner Hall, all scoring 8 points. Each of these players also had solid defensive and rebounding games as well.
Salmon vs. Challis: Salmon was able to snag a victory on the road over Challis on December 7th. Salmon got out to an early lead before getting themselves into a back and forth battle which stayed that way for the remainder of the game. Ultimately, Salmon was able to hold out for a victory thanks to poise and late-game heroics from Colton Kirby who had 15 points. In addition, Kirby helped secure the win for Salmon on the defensive end as he tallied 4 blocks and snagged 7 rebounds. Kirby did a great job of helping Salmon in as many ways as possible and will look to continue helping out as much as he can during upcoming games.
